I received the Magnecor 2557's i ordered and noticed that the contact on the coil end of each wire looked to be off-center ... is that normal? Sorry for the bad photo.  ........... Also, whats the correct gap for NGK Iridium DCPR9EIX (2316) plugs? I've read 25,30,32 and 35 thousandths...GRRRRR Thanks. . (Message edited by johnboy777 on February 25, 2008) | ||

It ain't me, Fatty, honest, I've tried ... it's this Kodak from the mid-90's that I won't give up. No macro, electronic zoom only, eats batteries, etc., but the software is super simple (no need for me to re-learn new software, right?), and I am not gonna get a new one 'til it breaks. I am guessing that you pull the boot back, install the connector and then work the boot down around the plug. A dab of silicone or dialelectric grease will do wonders come time to remove | ||

Thanks RW, I guess my point was, are the coil ends of these wires bad, or faulty, 'cause the contact end (coil side) if off center (photo). | ||

It looks to be a right angle boot on a straight terminal end. If that's so, it either needs a right angle terminal or a straight boot. It's either that or you're pulling on one side of the boot with yer thumb for the picture.  | ||

That is the way all of mine have been too. I just push the wire to center and carefully push it on the coil pin..you will feel it slide/snap in place. Be very careful with the silicone boots as they are very fragile and will rip..get some rubber coated "spark plug wire pliers" to aid in pushing and pulling them on the plugs. | ||

Thanks guys, here's the email from Magnecor: John: Greetings, It looks to me (see photo) that the coil side contact of my Magnecor 2557 8.5M wires for my '07 Buell Ulysses are off center - please advise. Thank you Magnecor: That's correct... with our bigger size cable the terminal tends to end up a bit off center, but as long at the end is fitted so the terminal is pushed onto the post inside the coil tower you will be fine. It will more or less center itself when its fitted. Steve Magnecor . | ||

You don't need to set/alter the gaps on Iridium plugs, just take 'em out of the packaging and screw 'em in. They are factory set. | ||

Thanks Longdog, The Service manual calls for 0.035 on the stock plugs and it seems that the NGK Iridium DCPR9EIX (2316) plugs came @ 0.030 from the factory. Just checking. John H. . |
