Took the wife for a ride on the uly today. I didn't adjust the suspension for the additional weight since it was only a short 60mi ride to Charlotte and back. The suspension was bouncy but handling wasn't bad. I'd definately readjust for a multi day trip. I'm trying to talk her into taking the uly to new orleans next month instead of the Road King. At one point, I wicked on the throttle in first gear and pulled the front end up about two feet! freaked me and her out. I like to keep both wheels on terra firma at all times. Awesome bike.

Yea, my first wheelie was with the girl on the back of the Uly. She didn't really like it.

Last year at homecoming...I had my son on the back and couln't keep the front wheel down even with both of us leaning forward...it was cool! Normally being at 5000-6000 feet, I don't have to deal with that too much. I can't wait to head East again! Wahooooo...ahhhh...I mean....Ride Safe!!!

Is your son riding his own this year?

First time I pulled the front wheel up on the Uly was with my 10yo daughter at the time riding with me to meet her mother and in-laws. She just could wait to tell them about the wheelie too.

+1 Dave, in the 17k i put on my Uly, I only changed the front tire once, and that was cause i was sick of the Dunflops headshake. 4th gear wheelies with a passenger are fun!

My girl has ridden with me 15k on the Streetglide. I hope to have her with me when I purchase the Uly. She just might be too spooked for any wheelie action. Realistically, can the front be kept down without thinking about it all the time?

My front wheel has never been off the ground (except the few times I had both tires off the ground).

When I have the rear end set correctly for me and my wife I never even felt like my front tire coming off the ground. With the rear end set for just me and her on the back the weight shifts pretty easy, but thats all the further we have ever been.

The day I decide one wheel would be fun or it just happens: I really hope she's not on the back.

When riding a passenger, how do you adjust the preload? Do you just add your and her weight together and adjust per the manual?

That is what I do: although it's kind of a pain.

Then the bike is adjust for two people and you jump on alone the quality of the ride goes down. The bike does not seem to stick as well, and doesn't smooth out bumps as well.

Then I leave it adjusted for just me and put her on the back the rear end tends to bob on any type of rough terrain, a little on exiting a corner, and stopping/starting quick.

Once I made the mistake of just adjusting the rear end for the two of us and not the front. It wasn't bad while she was on, but the next day I forgot about it. The bike really did not want to corner that day.

I wish there was a two up displacement chart about the factory settings are based on gross weight, or better yet a switch for one rider or two.

The owner's manual chart lists settings for load, not gross weight. I usually run it to load spec in the front and a step up in the back with the wife aboard.

The bike is picky though about settings, get'm right and it's great. Takes less than 5 minutes side of the road, and we can get a stretch.

I disagree about the throttle two-up, you do have to moderate it or the front will at least skip...
