Alright...
yet another question for all you farkle freaks. I've seen a couple of threads on this, but they didn't seem conclusive.
The best option seems not to be in production...
I want to be able to use the handguards...
Any experience or suggestions?
Tom

I have a set of the Manic salamanders from
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/3 593/474/. The picture doesn't show the throttle control, but if you go to Manic salamander : http://www.manicsalamander.com/throttle_lock.htm, you can see how the throttle lock works. I have just the powder coated plain weights without the throttle control.
I modified the installation by adding a small thin spacer (actually 2 small diameter washers) between the weight and the outer section of the wedge that holds the assembly in place. I then used a rotary tool with a rotary file to mill out the end of the hand guard, the slot where it attaches to the handle bar, to fit over the outside of the spacer I installed. I made the hole the same diameter as the spacer, but because the hole is now larger, the hand guard won't snap over like it does on the stock set-up, but now is sandwiched on the stack when installing it on the bar end. I suggested a modified mounting to the Manic folks, and they seemed receptive to the idea, but I don't think they have made any production changes yet. I like the solid clamp mounting as opposed to the expanding rubber mount that some of the others use. I was pleased with the fit and finish of the one's I got.

Froggy,

Will these be weights and a throttle lock? I was never able to determine that from the earlier discussions.

The Kaoko BUB (from Adventurer's Workshop) works great for me. The hand guards stay on just fine. I was only interested in the throttle lock. The weights were just a bonus. I dunno if they are heavy enough to make much of a difference.

But I love the way the throttle lock works. You can use it as a full on lock or a just a friction screw.
