Has anyone tried the "black boxes" on the 08's [or for that matter, any of the Ulysses]. The dobeck's and power commanders have been used with great success on Vic's but it seems that everyone here seems to rely on reprogramming the ecm's. It would seem to me that this would make any further performance modifications difficult as you would have to reprogram.

The addition of the race ecm in an 08 seems like a step backwards in technology since it was a slower system.

I understand that the addition of the map sensor plus the faster computer changes everything in the 08's

I also understand the "averaging" the system does can drive some of these black boxes into a lean running situation.

One thing is for sure - there is some more low rpm power lurking in that sporty mill.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have the Dobek TFI on my '06 Ulysses.
Without a dyno, it's hard to say if it does anything, other than placebo. However, since tuning the accelerator pump(#2) and main jet(#3) pots(richer), my Uly has not pinged.

I have the direct link. Teeps can that procedure be done with my setup on a dyno?

Probably, but you'd have to know where the accelerator pump cells are located in the map.

Fuel controllers should have the same effect as turning a fuel injection system into a carburetor that is fully adjustable. The kicker with it is the o2 sensor. Now the 08 has a map sensor and a faster computer that averages the signal.

The real advantage is mixing up a group of different pipes. Change pipe, then change the fuel controller settings.

Dyno's can really bring it "in" especially with a exhaust gas analyzer. Perfection!
