On the right is the prototype made out cardboard and duct tape. Fits in the inboard side of the side bags. Held up suprisingly well for the last 2,500 miles. It held my stuff in place with the elastic straps and a mostly full outboard side.

On the left was made with 1/4" Lauan, small L-brackets and pop rivets. Wedged in good and tight. Haven't ridden with it yet, but i don't see why it wouldn't be even better than cardboard.

Hmm, bit more weight with the 2nd option (what is Lauan anyway?).

I'm happy with a good selection of plastic bags.

Lauan is like a thin, hard press-board. They use it all the time in those home makeover shows on TLC. I bet it's not really all that heavy - although I'm sure it's more than cardboard.

Can you email me the measurements, I might like to give that a go.....

Luan is actualy a plywood of some type of mahogany. It normaly has a thin veneer on the outside & endgrain for the filler. It is light, not all that strong. It should do just fine in that app.

Ahowudoon - PM sent.

The lauan version is surprisingly just a tad heavier than the cardboard/duct tape beauty.
