In the overall scheme of things you were lucky...a motorcyclist was killed locally about 2 months ago. He hit a deer in I 64 near Georgetown, In, went down and then was struck by another vehicle and killed. This happened at approx. 9 PM during the peak months of the breading season...which is very risky to ride during that time especially in the dark. Deer and crossovers are two of the "unpreventables".

I had my last bike accident many years ago but I expect to have my next one every time I throw a leg over a bike and hit the start button.
I think this is the mind set that is needed to keep you sharp.

I recently heard some "advice" from a non-rider about how to deal with a deer strike IN A CAR: do not swerve; do not slow down.

I tried to tell her that the same thing couldn't POSSIBLY apply to a motorcyclist! So, I thought I'd tap into my first source:

Any thoughts, aside from slowing down?
