Now that E Troy is out of the market... I am so jones-in for an AMERICAN dirt squirter... Meet the H-D MT350. Got a bid on one now. Sorry Buell, you had first shot at it.

Cool! Makes my KLR-250 look like the pinacle of motorcycle technology! : )

Is that a hard case for an MP5?

I have a friend that will cut the seat and redo the pan, it is a 350cc rotax with electrical start. I gave up my KLR250 to get the CityX (sniff) I miss it , but I need something with a lil more power to pull my chunky munkey butt through the mud than the 250 . Again a Buell 450 DS/SM was my first choice. I know it is ugly, retro 80s tech, and flat green, but it just has that HTFU look to it. The gun case is for the M-14, M-16 or Brit SA-80. The side cases are for ammo, tools, maps and "support" gear.

They had one at Smoky Mountain HD a few months ago. I like those front hard cases. The color wouldn't work, but if they didn't block too much engine air, they would balance out the load on a Uly where you end up with a passenger and fifty pounds in each side bag.

You're NOT going to stuff any kind of M-14 in any of those cases. The case in the pic is for a bullpup style rifle. So no M-16 either. I assume you meant a M-4, but alas that will not fit either. We used those pieces of s**t in the Marine Corp. Piss poor scout vehicles. Had to make our own weapon mounts. Good luck with that antique!

Being an old team green guy myself, I am partial to the Kawi's. Where could I get my hands on one of those ?..... I am not signing back up for service, I did my time.

I was a jarhead also and would love to get my hands on one of the diesel Marine KLR's. Alas that won't sell to civilians yet and when they do I doubt it will be in my price range. The company putting them together is in Hesperia Ca for those of you in that area. I used to live in Victorville and wish I still did. Some great desert riding out there.

The KLR is a cool bike and kinda timeless.

By the way . . . . it turns on on badweb that "just" being a Marine is not enough. Some took me to task a while back and wanted to compare DD-214's cause I wasn't deployed, during my enlistment, to where he was. So. . to be a real Marine you need to submit your DD-214 to him to see if you meet the standards. I'm surprise the corps gave me so many commendations and meritorious promotions.

: )

You could also get the KLR and to the fit out yourself. I have two KLR's with titles that are in boxes I am getting ready to set about turning into Urban Guerilla units.

I didn't know the Badweb was made up of so many current and former Marines. Semper Fi Gentlemen.

Glitch, fair enough.

Everyone needs to read the book..."With The Old Breed: by E.B. Sledge. It is a great read about the Marines in WWII at Peleliu and Okinawa..the story is told from the foxholes...makes you proud to be an American. These guys made it possible for us to ride our motorcycles.

I am looking at the Yamaha XT250. I want something low enough the kids can learn on and the XT has the same ground clearance without the monster seat height. My buddy has one and rode it through the mud and would last weekend. It was a blast.

And ditto to CityX's comment about Buell getting the first shot.

Is the frame and suspension on the civilian KLR's the same as the Marine KLR's?

I really want one of the KLR diesels though, but if the civilian version of the frame and suspension is the same, well heck, I will do my own paramilitary job on one.

Some of the commentary in this thread is uncalled for.
A comment on dirtbikes does not call for a pissing contest about Marine Corp duty, or lack there of.
Back on topic, everything else can go off line, or a seperate thread in the appropriate section.
Thanks for the support, and cooperation.

Cheers for the links to the Diesel KLR Bertotti,
Ever since I saw them I've been interested,I hope they do on sale to the public-possibly with oil prices rising they would make sense to be sold to us as I presume they get more miles per gallon than petrol bikes.

Although I did serve with the USMC as a civilian contractor, doing things in places that I cant still talk about, my "Team Green" comment was for Kawasaki. I have had the 96 KLR250, 1981 LTD 550, 1987 ZX-7 Ninja, 1990 Ninja 9, 1992 Ninja 10, the oh my gauwd what was I thinking 1996 Zx-12 back to the 1997 Ninja 600RR, and the 1999 Vulcan Classic. Now back on topic, The header is for an American dirt squirter. The Buell Muell still wins if they ever build it.

Yup!

I rode past Camp Lejeune yesterday. There were a lot of home made welcome home signs on the outside fence near the main gate made by family members. It made me smile. Thanks to those who presently or have served.

As for the Diesel KLR, I was told it gets better than 100mpg.
