All, I want to get a group together this summer to go explore Cali. I figure we can start in either San Diego or San Francisco and make up a route from there. Obviously I would like to put it on the schedule asap so we can get a bunch of people together. I know that some of you can't take off for a week+ to go tooling around on the bike and I understand that, you are welcome to join us for all or a portion of the ride. Now the big question is who wants to join me and what month is best for you? Also let me know if you would rather camp or find cheap housing along the way. I am going to try my best to accommodate everyone. Let me know where you live as well. It will help with the planning. As I start to plan this any suggestions for adventure paths will be welcomed. I know that I will be putting canyon carving on the list taking us down Mulholland Dr., Angeles Crest, and possible Azusa Canyon if we have time. That is just the LA area. John, you going to ride over from FL for this??? -Chris |

Go to Pashnit.com for some really cool routes. I think this guy's been on every road in CA worth riding on. Excellent reports, pictures and maps. Well worth the subscription fee. |

I would sure like to hook up for a portion of the NorCal ride. I have been in the area my whole life and can guide the tour through woodside and the famous "alices" restaraunt. |

Chris, just so you know, there is the 2008 Redwood Run June 13-15 up near Humboldt. here's the link http://redwoodrun.com/map.htm My buddy and i are planning to attend this run. You said that you had never been up to NorCal, and I haven't either. Why don't you rally some southern folks, if there are any, and we can rendezvous for this run, then proceed to run all of the killer roads in these parts. I would love to ride Mulholland, AC, and Azusa, but it's hard for me to attend the RR (we already have tix) and then head south to head north again. I do know many of the top rides here in the Bay Area, and would be more than happy to rack up a coupla thousand miles showing them to ya! Regardless, it's a great idea, and I will give it all I got to be able to join you for this one! I have seen about 3 other Uly's around these parts, although I don't know any of them. Now we have rwcFrank up in SF. |

I am planning on a California trip from NC. Enjoy cruising US 395... Whitney Portal, Bristlecones, Mammoth, Hot Springs, Mono Lake, Tuolumne, Bodie... heck enjoy that entire area. May see you there. JB |

Great Mike, count me in. I just checked the website and the tickets go on sale in late February. Anyone wanting to join up for this part may want to get their tickets as I see they go fast. We will plan to ride up a day or two before the event to make sure we have time and are not doing an iron butt. Let's plan to head up to Humbolt for June 13-15 which means we will need to leave SoCal area (for those of us from SoCal) sometime between 10-12 June. Uncle Google says it will take over 11 hours to Humboldt. I am guessing we leave a day or two early. Let me know what you think about that. I live in Pasadena. After the event we can make our way back down the coast and hit some places that we all decide on. This really sounds like it will be a fun ride. Sounds like a plan is forming!!! Don't forget to post what city you are in. I want to mark it on Google Earth so I can plan routes. I am going to attempt to create a Google Earth Community so we all can see what the deal is. -Chris |

Sounds good Chris. I think it will be a blast too! We should try and meet in Santa cruz and head north from there! We can plan better as we get closer to showtime! |
