That other Buell company has been making steam and air horns since 1912. I've seen them on locomotives, trucks, in industrial plants, etc. The old ones are worth rebuilding and of pretty fair value in the boating community.

Installed the Stebel yesterday HOLY CRAP!! that thing is loud, the wiring kit was O.K. but decided to use a little heavier relay and better inline fuse instead of the old glass tube type provided, I also ran my own 12 G. wire inside a loom for a cleaner look and didn't have to worry about wire length. I'm sure the kit stuff is fine I had the other available so why not. I highly recommend this unit, I'm sure the Fiamms are much better then stock but I can't imagine them being as loud as this thing. Get one! |

Got mine yesterday. I'll be installing it this weekend. Is it necessary to run new wire and relay or can I just use the existing horn wiring? Mine didn't come with wiring or a fuse, only a relay.
BTW, never test your new air horn in the garage. My ears are still ringing. |

I think you need to run new (bigger ) wires back to the battery. Eastern Beaver not only has great products but, handy instructions. The Stebel draws bigger power and needs the bigger wires IMHO. Here is a nice reference on how it should be done:

use the relay. i've heard of some people going plug-an-play and it winds up blowing fuses. it draws ALOT of power. good luck |

Thanks guys. Does everyone just seem to be using zip ties to mount the horn. Those are the only pics I've seen. Also , what amp in-line fuse should I use?
Man I'm excited. My first farkle.  I also will be installing PIAA 510 SMR's/Autoswitch and replacing factory bulbs with PIAA extreme whites this weekend. Brake light modulator on order.

I seem to remember the Stebel's documentation indicates a 20 amp fuse
in really small writing on the package |

I am running a 15 amp fuse, I also used 1 large zip tie vertically, used my own wire and parts, the relay fuse and wiring in the kit are kind of wimpy but will work. |

I just plugged in a Fiamm Freeway Blaster (thanks for the tip 08Uly). Easy, quick, and MUCH louder than stock. Sounds like a regular vehicle horn (i.e. bigger than a motorcycle). |
