I am going to ride an 08 Uly on Wednesday next week and unless the wheels fall off I plan to buy one. I am looking at; 11,495 price 950.00 tax 750 delivery prep BS 700 bags (I only want the side bags) for a grand (inflated) total of $13895 I plan to offer 13k cash, is that sound realistic or am I off base? What add ons other than maybe a new helmet should I try to get? |

Mike, I was treated very well by Chris at Fremont Cycle Center. I am going to see if we can work things out. Also they have 3 Buell techs and although I live way closer to Redwood City the Fremont store was totally Buell friendly. We will see on Wed... |

I paid a lot less for my 2008, so I would say for $13k otd you should get hard bags and a few other goodies. If they don't want to sell you a bike, someone else will. |

RWCfrank, I bought an 08 in LA in Aug. What you posted is what I paid for mine. There were a limited number of California models made so I don't know if they are going to compromise too much on the price. If you can get them to go for the 13K cash then you really got a great deal. Don't be surprised if they say they can't drop the price. They may only be able to give you a discount on accessories like the luggage. My brother bought an 08 Uly out of CA and paid way less than I did. Keep in mind that there is a lot more hassle for Buell to get a bike past CA inspection / emissions standards. -Chris |

$13K sounds like a good price. Let's face it, everything is slowing up, and bike sales are really slowing down. I am sure they will be happy to take your cash. |

Well, I just did the deal on a shiny 08 for guess how much? 13k OTD no bags. They checked and claimed there were only 3 black Uly's in California!! I guess the word is out on how great these bikes are, glad I got mine. Having 35 plus years of riding experience and having just come off a GS1150 my first impressions are WOW!! |

Awesome. We need to get a west coast uly ride together. Would be awesome to have 20-30 ulys on the road, engines and fans roaring. Do some adventure riding on some fire roads etc. I would be willing to ride up to northern cali as I have not yet explored that area. Anyone in? Congrats on the bike. -Chris |

Chris, I'm totally in. It seems like us left-coasters miss out on all the midwest fun, being closer to the factory and whatnot. Maybe we should start a LeftCoastBuell party, perhaps we could meet at Pismo Beach, and do a run up to Humboldt Redwoods, then back south for Big Sur BBQ. What better way to explore the west coast than a PCH trip? |

I am pumped to get on this thing tomorrow. I will be sporting my new "free" Buell neck gaitor. Apparently they are giving them away. Anyway I am going to hold my comparison opinion of Uly vs BMW GS1150 after I get some real saddle time. I am pretty sure I know which way I am leaning |

It is about time you left coasters caught on to what a great ride the Uly is!! You keep up this kind of banter and you might get visited in the future by some Appalachian riders! |

Frank, I apologize if I am telling you something you already know. Here are the few things that I have come across with my 08. The clutch cable guide will probably break within the first 800 miles. There is great fix for this problem in the following thread. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/330047.html The other thing to watch out for is the oil. It is my understanding that a characteristic of these bikes is that they burn oil and oh boy does mine. I keep a quart with me and check it every other fill-up. If you are riding hard then you may want to check it every fill-up. Remember that the bike needs to be up to temp when you check it. It does not take much so be careful not to overfill it. Check your brake fluid levels, mine was not at the right level when I got it from the dealer. You should also go through your suspension and make sure everything is set to your weight. Mine were off a bit for me and my brothers were not even close to an equal setting between the two on the fork.I also had to put a little air in the tires to bring it up to spec as well. Other than that I have not really had any other problems with my 08. Well, there was a fuel pump wire issue that was causing the low fuel light to trigger and the pump not to run, but that seems to have been a one off thing and not a systematic issue. So how you liking it so far? -Chris |

I am loving this bike, the dealer told me to follow the book up to 500 miles and then "ride it hard" those were his words. I told him that some people experience high oil consumption when babying the bike during break in, he agreed and said 500 miles is about all they need. I appreciate the thread on the clutch cable and have the fix on my bench ready to go. The bike is running perfectly. I havent heard the fan yet while riding and it only runs a few seconds after shut down. This bike kicks butt. I will post a real comparison on ADVRIDER when I get enough miles to be accurate. |

I live in Ashland Oregon... 15 miles N of the Cali border... I'd love to get together for a northern Cali ULY ride sometime this spring/summer. I run a camp in the summer so my time is limited then, but the spring and fall are great for me! Anyone else? |
