Hi,
received my new Remus 'can today from the Buell dealer which I've fitted tonight (been to the bike show today). It didn't come with any instructions at all but got it fitted without too much trouble - apart from 3 of the 5 fixings for the belly pan wouldn't go into the threads and the gear linkage side is far too close to the engine casing.
Anyway, the build is good quality but the fit is piss poor.
There was also a bag with a couple of baffles which I presume is to make the exhaust street legal or are they just to quieten it down if you don't like the noise?
Sounds good though as it is but will it get me into trouble?

"will it get me into trouble?"

Yup.... in more ways than one!!

Good looking exhaust.

Does that front mud flap keep your back tire dry??

Not sure what it does now but it used help stop the old mild steel can from rusting to bits due to grip/stone chips.
Not sure how the neighbours will react when the summer comes (they'll all have their windows open!) and I start the bike up at 05:30 when I'm off to work

Oh, and I just found out today that the powerizer won't be in the states... they said something about not working over here, not sure why.

Mmmm,a couple of the threads on mine needed clearing with a tap.
Apart from that it was ok.

I ride mine with the trumpet shaped 'race' baffles in pretty much all the time,it sounds good with the 'road' baffles in but maybe a little too quiet.
If I want to make a real impression I ride it with no baffles at all.

Nice looking. Single or dual outlet, hard to tell from the pic?

It's a dual outlet.
Hoon, I presume the baffles that are already fitted are the noisier ones? The 2 others in the box have loads of perforations.

I have the street baffles in mine, with race ECM and I think it a good balance. Get on it and it sounds like a stock car- take it easy and the neighbors stop throwing cats at you

This may be my next purchase to replace my awesome, but LOUD, Drummer. I know it is a lot of coin, but the ability to ride without having cats thrown on me is a plus.

With the Race ECM, how is the power band? I am interested if the silencers have a huge effect on seat of the pants power as well.

Strada,
Yeah the perforated ones are the 'road' ones.

I'm off to the London Bike show at the Excel centre in a mo.
I'll try and get some pics of the Police Uly Bigkuri talked of.

Saw the Police Buell but it wasn't that impressive - it was on the Touratech stand with a few goodies on and lime green stickers! Buell stand had a massive total of 4 bikes and no merchandise for sale - nothing, not even a sticker!

Better picture today in the sunshine!!! Boy, it's LOUD! Coughed, stalled and spitted for a few miles but seems to have settled down now - but still a bit of popping on over-run.

It is the Buell touring screen with my own design of adjustable mountings - will be in production with them hopefully at the end of next week - adjusts for height and angle and mounts on the existing holes so no cutting or drilling required (20/30 minute job to transform the bike into a more comfortable cruiser).
PM me if you would like more details or look at the Windshield thread.
Cheers

With the race ECM power seems smooth with no stumble - right up until you bang of the limiter. I have only had it out a few times (got it in December - live in Indiana), but so far I have been impressed

Do I need to disconnect the old exhaust valve actuator?
At the moment I've just routed the cable up under the seat.

Mine is disconnected at the top and zip tied to the frame, never followed it to where the bottom is tied off. But apparently the previous owner who installed left the cable in place. The electrical connector is also still in place (female side) in the air cover.

By the way remember the emulator if using stock ECM (was in a diff thread on exhausts but thought I would throw it in here too)

Hey Nipsey,

How is the power with the quiet baffles in? And how is the sound with those baffles?

With the quiet baffles can you ride without ear plugs, like you can with stock exhaust?

Lastly, do you know the claimed db level with the quieter street baffles?

Sorry for all the questions, I really need a quieter pipe, but I want something that sounds better than stock, without giving up any performance from stock. My poor ears can't take the Drummer on long trips, although it is a wonderful performance pipe. And I live in a noise sensitive area.

Thanks,

--Sean

Hola Thespive -

The big qualifier for most of my opinion is a relative lack a seat time on the bike. That being said, power is great to me and smooth too. I bought the bike used and it had the Remus on it -first ride it took me a bit to learn to shift fast enough to stay off the the rev limiter. I was also bringing the front up in second ( not a lot, just got it dancing) under power alone, while trying to take it "easy". I live in a quiet cul-de-sac, you can see a little of it in this link:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/333326.html?1201556332
The next house I am going to pass in the pic is a Lt. in the local police force and across the street from the house I am passing is the city Mayor's house. Safe to say the neighbors don't take kindly to no hell raisin' motorcyclin' hooligans! Fortunately they think the Ural is cute.

So far it has been easy to keep it within respectable limits around the hood - and then piss off people away from home - actually I am a bit more respectable than that and only crack it in appropriate areas....

Don't know the db's, and in town don't where plugs too often and it is very easy on the ears. WIth plugs in it is like buttah!

Not much real info but it is all I have so far!

The major downside to the bike is the quality of a few of the parts and most of the fasteners. Done nearly 900 miles now (bought the bike nearly a couple of months ago) and have been using the bike as much as possible unless it is really raining and parts are corroding very quickly so I keep the bike as clean as possible.

Is it necessary to add a race tuner and dyno time to remap the fuel injection when changing the exhaust?

Yup, my dealer said exactly the same to me - Riders of Bristol. Good bunch of guys and they seem to know their stuff. They did say I could go for the Race ecm, & K&N air filter if I wanted to, but I'm happy enough with it as it is, although I'm looking into the Remusizer that Hoon mentioned in another thread to be able to remove the exhaust valve sensor thingy in the airbox.

Interested in your Windshield set-up Strada, can you show us a few more pics or a link?

Cheers

I should say that the Remus Powerizer doesn't allow you to get rid of the servo thingy-you'll still need an emulator.(sorry if I gave the wrong impression)

I've still got my servo and cable in place, the bottom of the cable is just cable-tied to stop it flopping about.

I've got a rotten flat-spot and had some stuttering today, the stuttering I'll put down to the air temperature but the flat-spot is going to get annoying very quickly.

I got Mine from Rider in Bridgewater but they were wrong about just disconnecting the exhaust actuator - the warning light does stay on! Left it connected for now.

I dont want to show any really detailed shots until the final parts are installed but here's a comparison picture showing the new position of the screen in it nominal position - it will go a bit higher and lower as well as tilt more.
