I just sold my '83 Fender Stratocaster, so I have just one question...

Does it come in Sunset Orange?

I'm curious enough to try one. It will have to be really something for me to put down my Strat. You know what they say," If you can't make it happen on a Strat, it ain't gonna happen."

Look . . I'm not sure there is any replacement for a Strat but I have the same problem with guitars I do with motorcycles. . . I don't replace, I add.

It's a sickness . . . Thank goodness.

I used to have the same problem with motorcycles too.

There is a cure, however.

Marriage.

Isn't that like trading one illness for another?

Court said: "I don't replace, I add."

That used to be me...

I once had about 9 electric guitars at one time (Fender, PRS, Godin, Steinberger, etc.)...every one of them was black...that way it was not obvious to my wife how many guitars I actually owned!

Erik and I had that dialed in until our wives wised up and starting swapping notes on a regular basis.

Psssttt. . . .over here . . let me tell you a new trick.

Go to e-Bay . . . . buy about 4 acoustics. . . I usually get Epiphone or Guild . . . and use that as "threshold elevation decoys".

Then get your Taylor LKSM and Gibson Custom Hummingbird and replace the clones. . . . take the clone and donate it to a children's charity and hand them the receipt for the Taylor and take the $3,500 write off.

You didn't hear it from me.

I've had 4 bikes in my almost 4 years of riding, and ALL have been black (Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic, Suzuki Katana, '06 Uly, and '07 H-D Street Bob). It's the only way. Guess which 2 Japanese bikes have been sitting, unridden and batteryless for almost 2 years? Anyone looking for some good beginner bikes? Someday I may get a red Ducati.

Interestingly, I've always been into black-and-white guitars - Stratocaster, Kramer Elliot Easton custom model (one of the best guitars ever made), Fender Jazz Bass, and several others of the wood-tone variety (Epiphone Howard Roberts, Warmoth custom Telecaster, Gibson Starburst, Guild DS-12, fake Gibson SG, etc.).

Frankly, I wasn't blown away by Erik's guitar design...not my style. Sort of looked like something Paul Stanley might have created with Ibanez. Does Erik play, I assume?

When I first started dating my wife, I had one motorcycle, and she had none.
Now, I still only have one motorcycle, but she has three.
The garage does look pretty neat, though.

The guitar really is good. If you have a chance to hear Mike with Queensryche on the current tour, he has two. Both sound good, but the white one has all the right stuff in it. His solos just explode out of the mix. It has the sustain of a Les Paul with hot pickups, but the body is designed to provide a lot of the sustain so the pickups aren't overwound but are in fact very clear high-fidelity Seymour Duncan custom pickups that are close to PAF's. Therefore it cleans up to super clean with a slight volume roll-off. And it is amazingly comfortable to play. This is NOT a styling exercise only.

I'm chasing down the spelling thing (that one actually came, see the "Courtesy of Buell", from the HD folks) whenever I find it. As is typical the world of Buell becomes amazing. . . . the last guitar mag editor I wrote about the spelling promptly wrote me back to tell me he owned a Ulysses and was a HUGE fan of Buell. He didn't know anything about Erik and the guitars and is dying to do a feature article.

I'm scrambling to get an MS-1 from Peavey that I can drag around NYC to magazines.

The more I see this guitar the more I. . . an acoustic kinda guy. . . get enamored with it. It's REALLY well thought out and just looks like it means business.

I think we're down to "what color?". . . but I've already got an idea on that. . . .

Court,

I have the same illness. I'm due to add one. Maybe Erik's axe is it. We'll have to try it. Is there a shop that has one on the floor or is it a custom order deal?

It's a custom order deal and I'm still dialing in details on how soon the first one can be spat out of the works . . . I, of course, have a great idea of how I want mine done.

I've talked to a couple magazines and am going to try to buy one that I can actually share with them for tests. If I can get one and you want to try it, I'd be pleased to share it with you.

Hey . . . wanna know what's cool about Buell? I see an advertisement on Sweetwater or some website for an upscale guitar pub that had the press release. . . I write the Editor in Chief telling them "it's Erik, not Eric" and get an enthusiastic . . . "gads, is this Court the Buell guy?" note back from the guy. Guess what. . .he owns and rides a Ulysses!

Small frickin' world, eh?

I just bought two tickets to see Queensryche in Seattle's Paramount theater on March 1st.

My girlfriend and I are going to wear our new shirts to the concert with a BIG Buell logo across the front.

I wonder if Mike Stone will be playing one of Erik's creations for the show???

I think he may have two of them at this point, a black one and a white one.
