Anybody know if the topcase bracket can be ordered by itself? Or, if there is a rack out there that will work with the stock luggage? Can't seem to find the answers I seek on touratech's website. Thx all

Anybody know if the topcase bracket can be ordered by itself?

I don't think so, I tried it. I only wanted the sidecases and that top case mount. When the parts guy tried on his computer it displayed a WARNING that the part could only be ordered under special circumstances.

So I spent the extra bucks for the three piece set just to get the rack. When it arrived the installation instructions for the top case mount were very specific, that it was not to be installed without the side case mounts also installed.

I suspect a liability issue regarding safety. A top case mount without the side case mounts isn't fully supported.

Regarding Touratech, call or email them. I've found them to be very responsive to my Q's.

I think it’s partly because having the top case without the sides causes the tail section to sink. I ran for a few months without the side case brackets and then when I went to put them back on nothing would line up, even with brand new brackets. I had to undo a few bolts on the tail section where it connects to the frame to lift the tail back up an inch or 2. I have a set of brackets that I will be selling soon, I just need to get everything cleaned and inventoried so I can post up here. : )

With the advent of the XB12XT, Buell will likely soon stock all the side & top bracketry as service parts. Sold only as an accessory before now, the OEM for the top & side systems probably only sold them in complete sets to BMC.

As for sagging without the side brackets, what happens when a passenger is on the back seat and no side brackets are installed?

Ifn you just want a top rack, check out the Ventura Rack, it doesnt require the side mounts. I have one on my CityX and it works great. I have since added the H&B rack for the side cases.

Ifn you just want a top rack, check out the Ventura Rack.

I like the look. It looks like it mounts in the same location as the HB side box mounts. Will they work with each other?

from the Twisted website-

'Without modification, our Ulysses topcarrier cannot be used in conjunction with the Buell OEM sidecarriers for Hepco-Becker sidecases. If you wish to use sidecases with our topcarrier, we recommend using our Ulysses sidecarriers and a set of Givi sidecases'

looks like that one won't work for me, I want to run the buell sidecases AND a rack.
CityX-so the ventura rack works WITH the buell sidecases?

Portero72, You best contact Ventura for that kind of info. Cityx runs an XB9S.

The Ventura rack is not made for a hard top case if that's what you want to use.

Sorry, guess I'm not being clear. I want to have a rear rack just for strapping stuff down WITH my Buell bags on the bike, both at the same time. It appears the Twisted rack won't work in that capacity. I DO NOT want a topcase, just bags and rack, same time.

You might try this?? Its a top plate with a rack system.... maybe they can confirm one way or the other if it will co-exist with the OEM carriers?
