Looks real good! That's the color it needed.
Too bad the lower seat came at the cost of a lowered suspension.

@ Bob,
yes, you are right UK license plate and Italian roads. I'm not sure if the modifications will help sales over here. The GS Beemer is, and probably will continue to be the #1. Ride safe Werner

If this link works, it is the side by side comparison. There are many considerable differences.

Steve McKay says: "It's my Ulybolt without the firebolt fairing..."

No wonder the factory employees were looking at it so closly at Homecoming last year. I must say, the firebolt fairing goes with the idea and looks a lot better imo.

Agreed! if they just added a larger (double bubble) windscreen with it.

And they sucked my kind of adventure right out of that ride. I would have to put the heavier wheels back on it, clad them in some aggressive tires for dirt roads, put back on the Uly beak and lower cover, increase the steering neck turn angle; and of course dress it in orange.
Riding the bike I got; Gas, oil, tires
Riding the bike they built 12995 +ttl
Riding the bike I want 16995 +ttl
Waiting for the 450 SM/DS.... priceless : |

Got to say this is the bike I wanted when I bought my Uly in 2006. But wow the pricepoint. I am not a dirt guy but the Uly was the closest thing I wanted in touring at the time. Now I am thinking Triumph Sprint which is $2000.00 less than this.

I really was hope for the 1125ST model myself. It just would not be that hard to put it together just like they put this one together.

I think it is funny that they don't offer this model in orange. Even Buell knows that Black is fastest!

Their next model should be more off road oriented. XB12XD

This is the bike I've been asking for all along. The only thing missing is a fairing, but I can live without one. Now, all I have to do is figure out a way to buy one. (more likely two; Terri will probably want one as well)

I just checked and it's no problem on Buell's end. Just let them know when and where you want them shipped.

: )

I confess . . . I first looked at it and couldn't sort it out . . then I went through the specs line by line and the thing is damned appealing.

Look . . I dig the whole "adventure" thing and I really enjoy Dave's photos of fording streams and chasing Roos down the dusty trail . . but, fact of the matter is, guess when the last time I took any street bike (including my current F650) in the dirt was?

The bike kinda makes sense.

And . . . I'm seeing one other thing that no one has hit on yet.

I'll bite.
What are we missing besides the slight differences between rake, fork angle, wheel base and mpg?

I'm pretty sure the 4.92 suspension travel front and rear were brought up.

Is it the triple rate fork springs?

Is it that the suspension is tuned more for sport?

I'm gonna be up all night trying to find it if you don't enlighten me. : )

So in the Uly chat back in 2005 Eric said they wont do another S3T because Sport Tourers don't sell. Is that why this thing is still under the "Adventure" heading on the website? Don't want to brand it with the dreaded "Sport Touring" moniker?

Send #13 to me in Eastern NC please & the sooner the better! With the low 20's on the ride in to work this morning I sure could've used the heated grips. I've already put down the deposit. Black would be the color of choice, but color has never been a deal breaker. After owning my S2 for 13 years (& 115,000+ miles - so far), I thought I was due for a new Buell. Thankfully Buell came through.

Now all I gotta do is put on the Firebolt front fairing as Steve did with the Ulybolt and I will be set! It's a little late for a winter project - so I guess it's a good thing that I have been collecting some parts that I will be needing...

I always wanted a red ULY
.. or orange like my X1

Can someone explain the difference between the Scorpion Sync tires on the X vs the Diablo Strada on the XT.

The Strada is a high mileage tire. Hard in the middle, soft on the sides.
Rear tire should be good for about 8000 miles
As of now, I have over 12,000 on the front

The Strada is a full street tire, more on the sport-touring scale of hardness, without any of the Sync's slight dirt road abilities.

Good move on Buell's part. They raided the parts bin and refocused a lower Uly for the touring crowd. In reality there are more tourers out there than adventurers. With little invested they have put out a bike that widens the appeal of one of Buells more popular models. The only thing I question is the price. You lose some of the '08 Uly advantages with the front suspension and turning radius and gain the optional bags but at a cost greater than a Uly with optional bags.

Well, DUH! Why do you think I built it before Buell did? : )

Now who wants to pay me to build an 1125ST So Buell can copy it? ;)

To be perfectly fair, I'd bet the bike was a concept before they saw mine at Homecoming

I just noticed the rear shock has a dual rate spring.

Now am I just seeing things or does the XB12XT have footpegs unique from all the other models?

They are doing the same thing Triumph did with the Tiger, whatever dirt road capabilities it had before, this model takes away. Hope this does not mean the standard will cease to exist. Bought mine because it was different from the VFR / Interceptor / Tiger / ST type thing.

Would be interested to see if they actually made it *more* dirt worthy instead of less, w/ larger wheels and tires, etc. Then it would be setup better for light dirtiness duty than the GS...at least as far as I'm concerned.
