Any of y'all have an iWay mounted on your Uly? Since they are hard drive based, I'm wondering how it is working out for you. Any vibration issues? Inquiring minds want to know... Thanks! |

Hard drive based? Hmm... It does look like a decent unit, but the hard drive is whats going to scare me. Lots of vibrations are the worst thing in the world next to magnets for a hard drive. For the cost of the unit i would rather get a Zumo and put anything you need on a SD card. |

I have an I-Way 100. Don't know if it's hard drive or not. But, I have had it mounted on my Uly for many miles with no problem. |

Don't know about the I-Way, but my JVC Everio video camera won't record to the hard drive on my Uly. It keeps turning off due to excessive vibration to protect the drive. However, it does work well recording to the SD drive. |

I've used the 500 for over a year now with no operating problems. I chose it because of the large screen Really easy to see, but it's a heavy bugger. The only issue I've had is with the ram mount. If I extend the unit too far out over the base, gravity and vibration take over and the handlebar mount will slowly rotate (droop) over time. I'm a little afraid of overtightening it because its only plastic. A couple hundred miles ago I put a couple of loops of rubber (bike tire inner tube) around the bars and this has seemed to cure it. |

Midnightrider- could you post picture of the unit mounted including view (or lack of thereof) of the instruments? also doesn't the weight affect your bike's handling?thanks Ishai p.s.- anybody else who has the 500 or better yet the 600 mounted- please do as well. |

Please go here to see some pics http://www.grillagroff.com/id49.html I'm fairly comfortable with technology but the BS associated with formatting photos for this site is incredible. I've tried using the recommended reformatting software, and although the software states my photos are within the required parameters, when I go to upload them they get rejected. I won't even tell you how long I spent unsuccessfully trying to upload here. On the other hand, i uploaded the unedited pics to my website in about 3 minutes. Guess I'm getting old.... PS - you can see I purposely mounted the GPS way to the side to avoid obscuring the instruments. (Message edited by midnightrider on January 24, 2008) |

Thanks a bunch for posting the pictures. The unit's weight does not present a problem? |

problem with? so far the only problem is that it tends to sag on the mount if it is extended to far forward; if i keep it centered vertically above the mount it stays in place. and like i said earlier, i wrapped a piece of rubber (old bike inner tube) around the handlebars and then fit the u-bolt that clamps the mount to the handlebars over that. since then the mount no longer rotates over long rides |
