UK bike sales are doing well in general (and have done for a while). It's partly down to the congestion charging which is being introduced to city centres (bikes go free as they don't block the roads) and partly because in October '08 the test requirements to get a motorcycle license are being made more difficult. So there's a rush of people trying to get a bike license before it becomes harder,which is the other area where the increased sales come from. (I personally don't think it'll be that much harder and it'll be a good thing 'cos people will have a better understanding of safe bike control-the changes to the test include hazard avoidance and other skills which will have to be mastered before going out on the road. Some of the commuters and scooter riders in London are in need of better training 'cos they ride like idiots sometimes.) | ||

Most of the scooter riders need locked up before they kill themselves. I wince at least 3 times each day when commuting.. Today was a EB500 (which is usully mega-experienced courier material) and a good old Aprila scooter with loud exhaust... | ||
