Traded in an 06 Uly for an 08 (love this bike!) After only 1600 miles however, I'm on my 3rd upper clutch cable bracket and clutch cable, (the cable casing melts when released from the broken upper bracket and comes in contact with the very nearby, and very hot, header pipe.) I put over 7K on my 06 Uly and never had this problem. I suspect that the increased handlebar turning radius on the 08 might have something to do with this problem.
My dealer has readily replaced the bracket and cable up to this point, but I'm starting to get "hints" that maybe it's not a manufacturing problem, but rather, a rider problem. I've asked them to contact Buell to ascertain if there is a bigger issue going on here...like maybe an inadequate (IE: flimsy) upper bracket, but for some reason, my dealer doesn't seem to want to pursue the issue with Buell.
Does anyone know of any problems with upper clutch cable brackets, or have any thoughts or comments on this issue?

Here's a few others with the same issue. As soon as my GS sells and I pick up an 08 Uly the first thing I'm going to do is fix that bracket......

The year doesn't matter, and the rider has little influence on the chance of it happening.

Some don't do it, some do, some do it A LOT.

Mine just broke and the cable melted. All replaced under warranty. I have a feeling this won't be the last time it happens.

I'm on my second wire form retainer (correct term I think). First broke somewhere around 15K miles. This is a common problem on the Uly, though your '08 seems excessive.
