Looking for a real life direct comparison between the 08 and earlier models. Focused mostly on the fuel injection, fan run time, rideability or anything else. |

I've test ridden an 08' and own the 06'. My demo of the 08' was nice but my 06 seemed to have way more fast grunt from stop signs. Changes to the throttle cable cam and emission requirements have been the explained reason for that. BUT, given the choice of an 08 or an 06 I'd still take the keys to the 08 because of all the positive changes that were made to it incrementally. |

I originally demo'd an '06 when Buell first were at Daytona. By the time I made the decision to get mine, the '07 was out. The changes between those two years gave me the same impression -- less grunt with the '07. Plus, I average only 41 mpg for commuting, while most '06 owners claim significantly higher than that. BUT I've never had any pinging either. From what I've heard, performance-wise the '07 and '08 seem pretty similar. The rest of the changes to the '08 are significant, but may or may not be important to you. I'd still prefer an '08, if offered either year, though. |

I think any "fresh" low-mile Buell is going to have much less oomph than one that's completely broken in. We've all noticed how our bikes gradually get better as the break in. I'm sure coming off a well-seasoned Buell and jumping on a <10 mile factory fresh one is going to be a BIG difference. |

Demo'd a low mileage '06, demo'd a low mileage '07 -- same impression as my earlier post. And yes, my '07 improved with time and break-in. |

A friend of mine had an 06 and now has an 08. When she told me that she was going to sell the 06, I told her that I was interested in buying it from her. She told me to get an 08. She cited better throttle response, smoother running, better suspension, improved low speed drivability and maneuverability. The only complaint that she has is about the 08 seat. I'm considerably taller and the seat suits me just fine. Mark in Arizona |
