While Gotj and I were shooting the windscreen comparison, we decided to show everyone how us E Tennesseean's are dressing up our "short bus" Uly's.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Baydog, I havent missed the larger stock mirrors. IMHO I don't think the vibration is bad. I do carry my stock mirrors in case I ever drop the bike cause you know the bar ends will be the first thing to go.

Thanks for the video. This is fantastic. Where did you get the handlebar riser and how was the Uly lowered?

Irelage. The risers can be purchased here.

It's the 4th item down. Gotj will have to answer the lowering question. Glad you liked the video.

I'd like the video too. If I could open the thing! Stupid computer. I've loaded two of the programs that it said it needed to open it and it has locked her up trying to play it. I followed your suggestion to download it but it wouldn't allow that either. Stupid computer.

Crap I could ride the forty five miles to your house faster than I can send you an E-Mail! Stupid computer!

I'm gonna try again another way though. Stupid computer owner!

A_D: I didn't get your PM about the horn. Maybe try again or post it in this thread.

Sanchez: We will try to remember to do the sound comparison the next time we go for a ride. (Won't we Orangeulius?)

Irelage: The front is lowered by dropping the triple trees 1.25". I haven't bottomed out yet but don't go off road and only weigh 250#. The rear was first lowered 1.5" with an XB9 shock to see how I liked it. It didn't bottom out either. I liked it well enough to have Trackside Engineering rebuild my Uly shock with 1.35" of lowering. I would have stayed with the XB9 shock except I wanted the spring and damping tuned for my weight so I wasn't so near the limits of adjustment. Trackside can also rework the forks if you choose. The sidestand also needs to be shortened.

Gotj:

If possible could you please send me a picture of how you mounted the Stebel Horn? I have one from my other bike (Honda PC800) and it is better suited for the ULY.

Also, do you have a part # for for the SWmotech mirror extenders and an internet source for the Tuono Mirrors?

Or PM me at ADVrider

Thanks

Yep, those are the ones and also the place I got them from.

I'm pretty new to this aftermarket light thing but my sense is that the differences between these $20 lights and the "serious" lights are in the lens and especially the reflector. My lights are more diffuse than I was expecting for driving lights. On the other hand, I haven't popped for the $200 set let alone $400 set. If someone around here, Knoxville TN, has some good lights, we could have a "shine-off" covered by Orangeulius.

A_D: The mirror extender is from Twisted Throttle, part number SVL.00.504.01. I am using it with the Tuono mirrors.

I don't have any pictures of the horn install but will take some soon and post them here. I will note that I just used pieces and parts I had in my collection. A neater job is possible and what I did may just give you a better idea.

I still didn't get your PM but I FINALLY did get my test PM from myself that I sent on the 26th.

A_D: Here are two BadWEB threads. The first is the inspiration for my install which separates the horn from the compressor. This is in keeping with the Buell "Mass Centralization" concept. The compressor is almost all of the weight of the unit.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/187115.html

This second link shows you how to put the whole unit behind the windscreen.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142838/238809.html?1162780912

Below are more detailed pictures of my unit installed. I put the relay under the seat instead of behind the windscreen. I also kept the plastic piece that connected to the horn and glued it in place to camo the compressor. I used a bracket I found in my collection to tie the compressor to the oil cooler bracket. I used some heater hose around the frame tube to protect the tube from the compressor and hose clamp and reduce the vibrations to the compressor a bit. I covered the wires with heat shrink tubing for protection.

Running the hose from the compressor to the horn takes some patience. I squished one of my earlier tubes between the fork and frame. If you have access to some Tygon tubing, I would use it for its flexibility and durability. Common vinyl tubing will harden over time and crack and tends to crimp in tight bends.

You wild need to find a tubing connector to glue into the compressor.

When you get the unit and take it apart, many of these comments will become clear.
