I purchased a 2007 Uly last week, and rode it home on saturday. No problems on the highway (70 miles ) Got home, took the bike out on a city ride and the check engine light came on, I let the bike cool down, the bike starts and runs OK but the light will not go off. I have been reading about temp sensors and such, and I have read the owners manual on line but nothing that points to what to do next. I will try to truck it back to the dealer, but due to work, I will be out of a bike for the next week or two, any ideas? Thanks | ||

You can read the codes without a reader. read this: http://www.saintjohn.nbcc.nb.ca/Marriott/x1/DDFITr oubleCodes/index.htm The codes are the same except for stuff that Xb engines have like fans and exhaust valve. | ||

My '06 Uly had a sticky exhaust valve (from sitting unused at the dealer, I suppose) which caused a fuse to blow which caused the engine fault light to come on and stay on.... until I replaced the fuse. It eventually blew again. I freed up the valve by tugging on the cable a few times (it's in the airbox) - it's been staying free, presumably because I ride regularly. | ||

Guys Thanks for the input, I tried pulling fuses Sunday, I will jumper it when I get home tonight and read the codes, I'm still waiting for a call back from the Dealer | ||

Make sure you jump the correct terminals, as one of the 4 has battery (12v) voltage. | ||

OK Gents I flashed it and it flashed a 21 21-exhaust actuator I searched BadWeb for exhaust actuator, and found another test. could some one who knows, post a picture pointing to the exhaust actuator. Thanks | ||

Hi; Had the same code on my new 07 STT. Wires under the seat had chafed through and was shorting out the circuit. Give the Dealer a couple of hours and they will fix it. Have them reset the TPS. | ||

You can listen to the Active Exhaust actuator work. It's noise that comes in two parts. I think you just have to know if it sounds right because I've never head a bad one. No noise... no actuation would be a bad thing.
You should hear the exhaust valve actuator actuate, sort of in two parts as it travels both directions. You could also watch it move if you had the air box cover off. If you had heard it run correctly you could tell if it was dragging etc. You could say that test takes less than four seconds. (not sure of any spec here) But again, no noise is a bad noise.
