Wow, big v-twin for character, laced wheels, water-cooled, shaft drive, frame sliders, center stand and a cool looking adjustable windscreen. These guys really did there homework. Now where the hell is the nearest dealer???

That would have been a Uly contender for me earlier this year when I was shopping. The big question is can I do my own work on it or am I at a dealers mercy for computer stuff.

I'm pretty sure that big v-twin, like most (all?) other Guzzis is air-cooled.

Are we so narrow minded that we can't discuss competitive bikes? It's a very interesting bike. I would worry about dealer network.

I am a huge Guzzi fan. That is all I rode for years until I got my Uly. Before getting into the Guzzi world there are some pitfalls to be aware of.
Dealer support and more importantly factory support is sporadic at best. If you need more than an oil filter and gaskets you can literally be waiting several months or longer. There are some great dealers out there that make owning a Guzzi easier but still difficult.
There are few bikes that offer as much character and pride in ownership. But there are few bikes that can be as frustrating. Just as an example, there are people still waiting on cam recall kits for their 03/04 bikes. Some are ridable some are not.
Every time I went on a trip it was always in the back of my mind if something went wrong my trip could very well be over, as many parts are days-weeks away. While my riding partner on a Harley could literally have an engine overnighted if needed.
For a second bike they are great but for your only bike I would be reluctant.

That bike sounds like one hell of a nice package. I don't know if I would feel comfortable owning it though with the lack of support available.

I was in Southern West Va. last month and there was a big Guzzi get together. I talked with some of the folks and they said that the maintencae work on the new bikes was very easy to do. Seems like a nice bike, but another step deeper into the twilight zone of dealer responsivness.I think right now that I am in as deep as I want to go. I stopped at a Hardley dealership in WVa. they had one Firebolt and no support for Buells. One fellow stopped by and just talked and talked about wanting a Uly. I let him sit on mine as a result he showed us some very fine back roads etc. He said that he would need to go across the state to a dealership that has an inventory of Buells.

What constitutes the "massively powerful" v-twin mentioned in the article? I love Motoguzzi styling, but their air cooled motors have never been as strong as Buell's, and they get horrific gas mileage as well.

I testrode some Guzzi a few years ago and it had horrible "rat-a-tat" vibes through the handlebars. Not a comfy bike. Engine was no great shakes either.

Looks like Guzzi may really be back on its feet. The new V7 Classic is just too cool. A V7 Sport would most likely take a spot next to my XB9R

Like Buell Guzzi has a niche market and kind of cult status, but unless I'm very much mistaken
Buell has overtaken Guzzi in production volume and sales.
