Hi Daveymac, Your front and rear maps are identical. They are the same as my 2007 stock rear map. Here is my file. Glenn, do you have the map & eprom files saved as a .MSQ file. Which is what EcmSpy saves as ? DaveyMac |

Daveymac, I sent my files to you. Yours look similar to mine. The front is slightly different from the rear as it should be according to ECMSpy. |

Hi, I sent it to Packdog and he has posted it here: http://www.primenumbers.org/buell/ I do not have a saved eprom file though. Good luck, Glenn |

Thanks to Jmhinkle,Glenn & Packdog I now have eeprom .EPR , EcmSpy should of created a .txt file along with it. This is the file EcmSpy uses whe you click: File Load EEPROM By default ti looks in folder: C:\Program Files\EcmSpy\eprom Here's my stock file .epr & .txt need to live in the same folder so Ecmspy can load it. |

Here's my question now. I read all through the faq and it shows all this understandable tuning with the values of AFR shown. Makes total sense. I go look at my map and it has some arbitrary value from 20 to 220. What the heck is that? How does that relate to AFR? Do I go by colors because that seems backwards. Lowering a said value will turn it more blue? Thanks in advance guys. (Message edited by jmhinkle on October 07, 2007) |

Have you read "Steve's Tuning Guide" yet? http://www.ecmspy.com/tuning_guide.shtml This is what it says about those values: The Fuel Maps control how much fuel the injectors will flow for any given RPM and Throttle Position combination. The values in the table relate to the length of time the injector is open (pulse width) and flowing fuel. It is assumed that you are not modifying the injectors or the fuel pressure, hence the only variable is the pulse width of the injector. For the technically minded, each value in the table equates to 58 Microseconds of injector pulse width duration. I interpret this to mean that the injector pulse width is 58 x (20 to 220) Microseconds. This would mean lowering a value would provide less fuell and make that area more lean. I don't know how those values equate to AFR or what the color codes mean. |

Thank you. My impatience and speed reading missed that part. I was so into the whole AFR ratios and color coding I missed the pulse width section. I'll play with the map some more before installing on the bike just to see if it makes sense although it doesn't seem to right now. I have my largest numbers in the red zones as it is. |

Can anyone confirm that they have gotten the VDSTS cable to work with ECMspy? I am still waiting for my cable parts to arrive, so I tried to get a VDSTS cable to work. I have not been able to get it to work. To get the VDSTS to work reliably with the Keyspan adapter the FIFO setting has to be changed from the default (16) to 63. I have tried both those settings with ECM and the connection still times out. I don't understand why the cable shouldn't work. In order to work with VDSTS it has to convert the ECMs TTL to RS232 for the Keyspan adapter, which then converts the signal to USB. As long as VDSTS is working with the cable, I don't see why ECMspy wouldn't. For me, VDSTS works with the Keyspan adapter configured as COM4, so it seems that pointing ECMspy to COM4 should be all it takes, but it doesn't! |

Anyone with experience with the kimball software: Is the ECMspy software more or less user friendly than the DOS based Kimball? (Message edited by diablobrian on October 10, 2007) |

I have no experience with the Kimball software, but I can say that while the ECMSpy resembles VDSTS, it is much more user friendly and without limitations. |

Hi Guys. I just installed a race muffler and ECM on my 06 Uly and the bike runs like crap. Does anybody know what the TPS and AFV settings should be for the race ECM? I've installed the stock ECM for now and it runs fine. |

Hi Geopatr, I suggest taking it for a ride to get it warmed up, then swapping the race ECM back into it. Then do the TPS reset for the race ECM. To reset the TPS here are the steps I follow: 1. Warm up the bike 2. Turn the idle adjuster out until the throttle feels "sticky" when you first start to open it. 3. Let the throttle snap shut 4. Reset the TPS with either ECMspy or VDSTS 5. Turn the idle adjuster back in until the TPS reports a reading of 5.1 6. Start the bike and adjust the idle to about 1050. Some bikes seem to prefer 1100 for easier starting in colder weather. Setting the TPS to 5.1 is only a landmark that will let the bike start. The TPS gets readjusted when the idle is set. So, there really isn't a "correct" TPS setting, it just needs to be "zeroed" by the reset so that it knows when the throttle is fully closed. You should be able to ride the bike at this point. If so, take it out and run it at about 3,000 rpm for a few miles, keeping a steady throttle. That way the ECM will learn it's AFV from it's sensors. If it's running too rough to ride, I would try setting the AFV to 100, then ride it at 3,000 rpm for a few miles. Typical "learned" values on bikes I have checked are between 90 and 120, depending on altitude. Hope that helps, -Ron |

I've found it less nerve wracking to do that riding at 3000 to 4000 rpms in "4th" gear so that I don't get a ticket during the ECM learning process. I don't believe the ECM cares what gear you are in, but the cops seem to care how fast you are going, at least in Nebraska. |

Is there a way to adjust the Cold Start Enrichment? The temps have been cold here at night now so when I come out from work in the morning she is pulling her old tricks of not starting if I don't blip the throttle just a tad. My cold start enrichment is at 164%. I'm not sure if blipping the throttle helps to get air because it's too rich or it needs the squirt of gas because it's too lean. |

Look on the OTHER tab in the program. The cold start enrichment values are shown on the lower left. Page 21 of the Tuning Guide describes this in better detail. |

My "other maps" section is blank. Doesn't seem like I can adjust anything there. Does it have to be done real time on the bike? I just figured out there is an official tuning guide as well. I was reading the simplified version on the web. The Word document covers a lot more. (Message edited by jmhinkle on October 16, 2007) |

For the other maps section, it needs to be connected to the bike, switch on, key on. Turn off the connect button on top left, then select fetch maps and it will populate the data fields. |

I built a cable and downloaded everything and started changing my fuel map around yesterday. I tried a different XB12micron race map. Also smoothed out the map quite a bit using the mega squirt software and the 3D view on ECMspy. The smoothed out map is much more pleasant to drive in traffic than the map I was using. It will still pull your arms off when you hammer it tho. I hammered it in third afterwards while changing lanes in traffic and got my first third gear wheelie. Scared the sheit outta me when I couldn't steer. |

Hi, I just ran file comparisons of my stock 2007 to the race 2006 fuel and ECM maps that Packdog posted. This might be of interest to some of you. Glenn |
