As per title, went down again. I guess this just isn't my week. This time i was making a right hand turn, not even going fast and the bike slid out from under me. Unfortunately i didn't get off the hook as easy as i did when i went down Saturday. Damage to the bike so far is a bent front brake lever, bent right bag latch, and bent top case bracket. When the brake bent it crushed my ring finger and it hurts like a bitch and is all swollen. : (
Oh well if i didn't prove ATGATT was a good thing the other day, i proved it again today.

Thank you guys at Danbury HD for helping me out minutes before closing to get me back on the road, as it happened a block away and i rode it with no front brake to them. The brake line came loose at the master cylinder and that caused brake juice to bleed, but they tightened it up and bled the system quick. Oh well i guess ill place an order for a new lever in the morning.

Keep the rubber down and on the ground, as it seems like both my tires are filled with helium : )

Dude. Sorry man!

You are just getting ALL your lay downs out of the way early.

Then you'll be pretty much indestructible.

BTW, glad you are an ATGATT believer! If you weren't before you would have been by now! Anyway glad you're OK.

So I never said I was a rocket scientist, but I like to think of myself as fairly knowledgeable and kind of worldly (Good or Bad)
But I never even heard of the foot tapping in a bathroom stall.
Not trying to jump to any conclusions here,
but guilty as charged I believe would fit very well here.

Froggy,
Did you hit some wet leaves, gravel, oil?

The HVMP end bars will save the front bar items from damage besides cutting down handlebar vibration.

I did some gravel roads last week and nearly lost it. (Again). There was about an eighth mile of newly laid gravel. Loose stuff. I was all over the place, almost hit the ejector button, then it hooked up.

Does anyone else have this problem? I used to fly down gravel roads on my Road Glide with all the confidence in the world. Never a problem. The Uly ride is like riding on marbles over ice. I'm almost at the point of buying something else.

The sport bike geometry is not good for off road or gravel. I know, the clearance and suspension travel is good, but My R1150RS was way better on gravel than the Uly.

The Uly is a different ride off road. I had the opportunity to do a little at Buelltoberfest with New12r and kdan. I was petrified at first. I've ridden dirt bikes. The Uly is NO dirt bike.

Eventually, I got the feel for it. You can't fight it. You simply have to go with the flow on it. It feels like it's going to scoot out from under you, but it isn't really. You just have to keep the front light on the loose stuff.

Toward the end of the run, I felt very comfortable. Charley was doing wheelies.

The most unnerving part was hearing the poing, ping, pong of rocks shooting out from the sides of the tires.

I think it is those fatty tires! They float rather than dig in to stabilize the ride in the sense that a keel on a boat stabilizes.

That said I have found that lower tire pressure helps.

I think that a tire design with BIG grooves might give directional stability in mud sand and gravel.

I agree with you, Growl. Those fat tires feel squirrely in mud too. Just takes some getting used to.

Sorry to hear it Froggy. The Uly is a tough bike though, so just worry about your finger because the bike can be fixed.

Hey guys, I forgot to mention that it rained a few hours before so the roads were still a little slick. I went to the dealer last night in my cage to get a new lever, and I slid a bit in my car, so I think I was screwed either way. I'll post some pics tonight of the damage, but it looks like the fork slider took most of the blow. I'm a bit pissed, the leaking brake fluid ate a bit of Erik's signature. : (

My tires are fine, as the rear was put on a few weeks ago, but somehow the front is all worn down. I didn't think I could wear out something that never touches the ground : )

Good old DOT4 got to the signature : (

I'm sure Erik will have no problem fixing it up next time you see him.

Even if he does seem a little embarrassed by the attention being focused on him instead of the bikes

Last homecoming I swear he wanted to grab the keys to Steve's Uly-bolt and RIDE! I could be wrong, but that's the
vibe I got.

Erik was, of course, being friendly and personable, but it was a glorious day, they had been thrashing to get the 1125r
ready for unveiling, he had been playing with the band at the Boiler Room all night and he looked ready for a nice 2
lane blacktop with as many curves as possible.

Froggy,

Your profile says you have the Ulytility Bar and PIAA 510 lights. I don't see them in the photos -- were they on the bike, and how did they suffer ?

After breaking both my clutch and brake levers, I finally decided I'd had enough and shortened them. They should survive much better now, but I haven't had a good hard crash to try them out yet.

Looks like those sliders are a good investment too.
