$15.00 for pair of 55 watt off road lamps from WalMart. $8.00 for 10 amp rated accessory plug with On/Off switch and 10 amp fuse - Radio Shack. $2.50 for 1/8" thick aluminum strap - Ace Hardware Bent the aluminum with hammer in vice and drilled holes. Attached to hollow threaded bolt that holds the turn signals to fairing. Ran wiring from accessory plug through space just under the ULY speedometer. Cable tie is there just for safety.       | ||

Thanks, I'm not keen on drilling holes if I can somehow do without. Anyway, there are a zillion ways to mount lights. I just did it on the cheap. I suppose that I'll have to waterproof the accessory plug switch the best I can. | ||

The rubber boot on the back of each one is starting to dryrot and crack. I might end up making some custom black duct tape boots for them over the winter. Other than that, they hold up great! They're on whenever I'm out after dark (which is often), or whenever I'm riding twistys. I've yet to replace a bulb, or have to tighten a screw. | ||

That dry rot might be kept ahead of with some Armor All spray. Thanks for the heads up. | ||

One thing to watch out for with the wallymart lights: Not too water tight. I had those on my little car before and they kinda rust inside. Or at least mine did. I never figured out a good solution for that other than to replace them before each winter. CHEEP! I think I will try that mod om my X1  Brilliant!  | ||

They have a weep hole for letting out moisture. Anyway, there is no way on earth I would pay 300 bucks like some of the lights are priced. | ||

Looks good Electraglider, how does the stock lighting look now, compared to when the auxiliary lights are on? I know I was pretty amazed when I did mine. | ||

I haven't ridden in the dark with them yet but hopefully tonight I'll give them a test. I do know that they sure light up my garage much more than the stock lights in comparison. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on October 10, 2007) | ||

This is from my Cyclone with the same lights. Crappy camera, but you get the idea: Low beams:  Low beams with Fogs:  Needless to say, they made a HUGE difference for me. I never ride after dark without them. and when I pull in my driveway and turn them off, I'm amazed at how little the factory headlamp lights. | ||

Nice one Mikef & Electraglider, I'm getting very close to wiring up my 'Frankenstein' spotlight configuration so these posts are invaluable and get saved to my 'favorites' for later reference. +1 on doing it the 'penny tech' way (as you good 'ol boys say) I can spend what I save in using the lights I've hoarded over the years on much better things like  .
