They arrived in the mail on Friday. finally had a chance to install them this morning. It took me couple of hours because my 6 yr old son was helping.  It is a great kit and very easy to install. Boy are these suckers HOT!!! There wont be any frozen fingers this winter!! | ||

I've had mine on for a couple weeks and am thrilled that I held out for them. I've had a set of heaters and grips ready to go on for quite some time. The part I held out for was the stock style switch. The kit installed very easily, the grip comfort is better than stock, and the heat is plenty for all my riding in the Pacific Northwest. I'll have to put the original heaters I bought on a different bike for someone. } | ||

The factory set-up is great. I put mine on and rode to work in 50 degree weather. With the switch on low the grips were hot. I can't imagine what the high setting will feel like. | ||

High is for browning before setting it to low which is for cooking finger meat until it falls off the bone. | ||

Well, after one week with my heated grips all I can say WOW!!! The first setting is HOT!! I don't think I'll ever use #2!! LOL!! | ||

So these are the ones that are on the 08's? Last winter I wished I had them. Well winter is back and still no heated grips. Had some pretty big gloves on and still got frozen. So are these strip heaters that go over the grip? | ||

Snowscum-These are the OEM grips that come stock on the 08. You can buy the complete kit from any Buell dealer or on Ebay. I got mine on Ebay from St.Paul HD/Buell. Great guys to deal with. I installed the Oxford heaterz grips. They have a dial switch and work great. Turn the dial up high to warm them quickly and then back it down till your happy. All my bikes have heated grips. Don't leave home without them! | ||

So to install these undergrip heaters, you obviously have to put them under the grips. Is that a pain in the arse? | ||

Just order a set of the Polly heaters. I've got a set and love them but so far I have only used them on low. They get plenty warm for the temps that we are having here in Belgium right now. They are easy to install and work well. I got mine from Appleton HD (sponsor). At some point in the future I'd like to add a heat troller but will wait to do that until I get a heated vest. | ||

Is there a difference between the Lightning and the Uly grip/switches? Why doesn't the web page list it being as available for the Lightnings? Or am I missing something? | ||

They are definitely suitable for the Lightning and Firebolt. The printed instructions included with the package include specific detail of fitting to those bikes... Al | ||

I installed the OEM heated grips a couple weeks ago. I like the clean look and the feel of the grips. I did decide NOT to remove the Polly grip heaters and the Heat Troller so I can still get heat levels below the OEM low setting. The OEM heaters get warm quicker than the Polly's, which is probably because the heat source is closer to your hands, but variable heat levels is the nice part of the Heat Troller. My biggest concern about the OEM grip heaters is what will be the cost to replace the grips when they wear out? | ||

I started installing these on my 2006 tonight. Drilling holes in the handle bar is proving to be quite difficult. Tried multiple bit sizes and multiple speeds. Any one else run into this? Any advice? | ||

Is your drill walking? If so you need to center punch where you want to drill the bars. After that it should drill fairly easy. | ||

I think those bars are made of depleted uranium or something. I broke two bits going through them. As Steve says, center punch them to keep the tip from wandering... and then be patient (I wasn't) and use a high speed drill (I didn't, I just grabbed my rechargable). | ||

I found it pretty difficult too, but persistence finally pays off. I was surprised that the kit does not include any glue for the left grip, so be careful not to strip out the two screws that hold the grip on the bar. | ||

Where do the grips connect to the electrical system?? I have some kimpex? heaters I was thinking of installing. | ||

I may try some heated grips this year. I got the H-D heated gloves last year, and I don't really like them. They're toasty warm for sure, but they're really thick, and the inner liner slides around, so I can hardly tell my hand is on the grip. I end up squeezing so hard that my hands cramp up. | ||

Maximum, sounds like you were work hardening as you were going. Be sure to use a Sharp drill bit, and I like Zep "drill chill", as well as center punching and pilot drilling with a smaller drill bit when ever I'm drilling holes that need to be precise. Assuming I can't just use my mill that is, and even then the same procedures apply in a lot of cases. For drilling and tapping aluminum kerosene works nicely as a cutting fluid. | ||

I've had good luck with bacon grease as well. The stuff has a crazy high boil point, and smells delicious |
