I need your thoughts here. Bike has been running kinda rough and was popping alot on decel and the idle is slow to drop. Changed out the plugs and that helped with the popping but the idle drop still sucks. Adjusted idle to the spec 1050 to 1150 rpm. Plus when you are in town and traffic, throttle control is a bi*&%. It seems like it is full on or full off. Bike has about 3300 miles and the 1000 mile service was done around 1500 miles. It ran pretty smooth after that. Just not sure whats going on? Thanks |

Stewadi, Is your bike bone stock? Make sure you did not pull the boot off of the top of the throttle body if the air cleaner base was pulled off for the plug change. Check battery terminals and make sure they are tight. Also make sure the plug wires are secure at the plug terminal and the coil. |

I don't know about the popping on decel, but my '07 when I first had it would have the slow idle drop, especially during stop-and-go traffic situations. It had the idle set at 1150 RPM originally. I'd suggest setting the idle to 1000 RPM, +/- 50 RPM, setting it with the motor FULLY warmed up. 10 - 15 minute ride, then set the idle. Made a BIG difference for me. Same as Florida here. I aim for 1000 RPM +/- 50 or I have the floating idle as well. It also took a few TPS resets to get mine really good. I would suggest doing both. |

Stewadi, If all of your electrical connections are good I think a AFV reset is more important than a TPS reset. The good thing is that ADV can be reset by taking a 5 minute ride at 50 mph in 5th gear with the engine hot on level ground and very little throttle movement. The clue is that you are having issues at open loop operation and during open loop the AFV is used to make modifications to the factory map settings. The O2 sensor is ignored and the system uses the cruise (closed loop) operation to learn a value (adaptive fuel value) that is used at idle and throttle and/or rpm above cruise . Check connections and go for a AFV ride. At some point in time your bike experienced a rich condition and the AFV was adjusted below 100 and when you return to idle their is an adjustment to make the mixture more lean than normal which is your pop and float. Find someone near by to check your AFV. I will guess that you are in the 95 range. (Message edited by davo on October 05, 2007) |

Thanks everybody for the suggestions. I will check out the connections, adjust the idle and look at the throttle body boot and then go for a 5,50,5th ride to see if that makes a difference. Davo: The bike does have a econo drummer, magnacore wires, k&n filter and 10R12APP (platinum) plugs. |

Stewadi, The air cleaner and the exhaust are going to exacerbate the already lean condition associated with the stock ECM. The 5,50,5th should help. The Uly is so fun to ride that the rider seldom gives the ECM an opportunity to establish new AFVs. |
