It's been said before but I just have to say it again... we need dirt worthy tires for the Uly! My original Dunlops (I bought my '06 new in June) were okay on dry dirt but I went riding with a couple guys on pure dirt bikes today and I did pretty good on all terrain except... them damn mud holes! That's were the Uly as dirt bike fell down (literally - twice) Every other obstacle I could cope with: sand, rocks, steep rutty hill climbs, bashing through brush... but mud - forget about it! TIRE MANUFACTURERS OF THE WORLD! WE NEED A DECENT MUD WORTHY 17" RADIAL TIRE !!!! |

The Perilli MT60s look quite knubby. I will have a set on this winter for mud and muck slinging. I will let you know how the do ;) |

Cityxslicker... I look forward to your report! Lorazepam... yes - a real dirtbike - of course, but the Uly does so well other than mud... It's a shame to have such a show stopper! I suppose it really boils down to that fatty rear tire floating rather than sinking into the mud... maybe a radial tire with a paddle pattern? |

Hootis29: Have you ridden on the Distenzias in the mud? (we are talking Uly - right?) |

Cool bike! (What shield is that?) Distanzia is the next tire for me quite likely! (Thanks) |

Not sure on the window. It was one that was sent for us to try. Then I cut it down an inch. This is the 160 Avon, but you can see the profile is very similar to the 180 Dunlop. I think you probaly loose a little bit in the corners, but as you can tell, the only time I slide any knees in when I fall off.

Hootis, How well is the Distanzia holding up to the Uly? I had one on my DR650 and loved it just trying to see how its fits and wears on the Uly. |

Yeah hootis, what kind of mileage you got on them now. Last time we talked, it was low hundreds so you weren't sure how they were going to hold up yet. |

The rear was smooth at just over 5000, the front is still alive and well at 6500 +. I did a couple of high speed days across the Dakota's last week and now it is showing some cupping, I think I will replace it at the end of the season, regardless of its remaining tread depth. |

The Dakota's just beg to be ridden fast. I keep thinking it would be nice to have a second set of wheels for more off road oriented rubber. |

Well that is better than the mt-60's rear gets and the Dunlop for that matter. I think I'm going with that next, but that will be a long time away at this rate. |

I too have thought a lot about a second set of wheels. Except that I need them to get to where I would like the dirt tires. I may also try to have a wheel narrowed about 1/2" this winter to accommodate the 160 Avon better as well. |

Hootis29 I had thought about that also. Wheels aren't cheap though. Well I think they aren't cheap. |
