I swapped to the tall wind shield and if I stay under 60 mph all is well. But at freeway speeds, I get terrible buffeting on the helmet. Nolan 102, schuberth s1, and also on a shoei. All full face. I'm around 6'02" and the wind on my chest is much less but seems to "break" right around my neck/shoulders area. If I stand up on the pegs all is well, but I can't get low enough to get a smooth air flow again. Has anyone cut an inch or so off the tall windshield or tried tilting it forward or back with longer/shorter mounts and pins? I saw from another thread that an even taller one is available, but really didn't want a "touring" size screen for this bike. Coming up on winter I can use the extra wind protection but it'll blur your vision if you start passing cars. Anyone else with this issue? thanks mike |

stock screen has always seemed just right in my opinion. even at 80mph+. |

I saw the same thing when I rode a friends Uly. With my stock shield there is no buffeting and with his Buell tall shield I couldn't even see the road for all of the helmet shaking I got. I am still unable to get pics to post, I haven't had time to experiment lately, but I see no reason not to experiment with modifying a windshield to work. Everybody sits different, and is shaped differently, and expects different results. So make it your own. The only draw back is the cost of the windshield that you already have. Oh well, it is already spent, and it doesn't work. Adjust first, then cut away a little at a time until it works. Some people have added the laminar lip with good results. Look into historic threads about the subject, there has been a lot of testing and experimenting done already. |

If you have it bolted on, try changing the spacers. Changing the angle can make a big difference. I would add a small amount to the bottom ones, and see what happens. |

I'm 6'2" as well, and I had the same problem. I went back to the stock windshield and sold the tall one to someone shorter who loves it. |

Some people have added the laminar lip with good results. The laminar lip is awesome when riding solo. However, I get a tremendous amount of buffeting when riding 2-up with my wife. If we are riding together for any distance, I remove the lip and ride with just the stock screen.

Update on tall windshield issues: I drilled new mounting holes in the front plastic nose of the bike 2" lower than factory, and mounted the unmodified "tall" windshield there. I found that there is still a little wind buffeting and noise around the base of the helmet, but it is tons better than the tall windshield at full height. I still have a noticeable decrease of pressure on my chest so I'm getting closer. Next I am going to try to fine tune things by tilting the windshield forward or back a little with longer or shorter rubber spacers and hardware. I filled the original holes with little black flush mounted plugs and it looks acceptable for now. If someone beats me to this, let me know. mike |
