My '06 Uly sets up a vibration at certain RPMS (2000-3000) which causes the horn to shake and make an obnoxious racket. Inspection revealed that the horn is mounted on a tab of springy metal which lets it shake enough to bang into the plastic fairing in front of the horn AND into a metal bracket located right behind the horn. Here is a picture.

I have read posts about this here, but rather than replace or relocate the horn - I tried a simpler solution. I used a bit of silicone RTV in the process and am waiting for it to dry before giving it the test... I'll give a report of course! Here is what I did: I slipped a strip of cork gasket material between the horn and bracket and used some silicone to glue it in place. A strip of rubber might even be better. Here's a pic.

I noticed marks where the horn was beating on the plastic fairing. Here is a pic showing where I smeared a layer of RTV over the marks.
After the RTV dries I test... |

Let us know how it works! I see you keep your key on a keyring with other keys. Be careful with that. I scratched up my paint around the lock by doing that. |

I had the same issue and I tried to bend the bracket but I could not get it to stop by that method. I had some clear soft tubing of small diameter (like for a fish tank) and I stretched it and tied a loop around the bracket and knotted it. The horn now rest on the tubing rather than hanging in the air. Seems to have eliminated the buzzzz and the horn still works well. |

Ugg....ditch that cheesy horn and for $40 install the stebel compact and then when you really need a horn you got a HORN... |

I reversed the horn on the springy bracket, and moved it to the 10:00 position. That stopped it. |

What do you mean by reversing the horn and the 10:00 position? I want to eliminate this noise of the horn vibrating. Thanks, Mark |

In those pictures. reverse the direction of the horn so the bolt is facing the front. I would remove the horn, then move the bracket. It is in the 6:00 position in those shots. Then reattach the horn as described. |

Test results: it works! Horn sounds a bit raspier but still loud. This is an easy fix. If the cork wears out I'll try the 10:00 position. |

Another vote for the reverse, 10 o'clock solution. |

So THAT'S where that noise is coming from. Going to have to check that out, I bet that is what I have been hearing. |

I slapped in a 1 inch square hunk of self-adhesive Velcro on the back of the fairing where contact was being made. I used the "Cushy" loop pile side of Velcro for the job. No more problems, and it is holding up well. This was a super quick and easy "Fix". I already had the self adhesive Velcro on hand at the time, so shopping was not required, either. |

Does the Stebel fit in the stock location? |

Reverse 10:00 with a Fiamm. A little crowded with the extra lighting wiring and relay and the Autoswitch gear in there and the Kuryakyn battery meter wiring. Bought a Wolo Stebel-type and it is small but too much space required for all my other stuff. I'll probably move the Fiamm outside with a lo-tone one of these days when I figure out an arrangement... |

I had the same problem; I bent the springy bracket and no more problem with noise but the horn sounded sick.... Bent the springy bracket back just a bit and the horn sounds back to normal...but now it makes the noise once more...I am going to try the rubber, cork, silicon, tubing fix. I will update with the results |

Thanks for the responses guys. I reversed the bracket to put the horn on the back side of the big bracket and rotated to the 10 o'clock position. I also put some felt pads against the metal housing for some of the wiring to stop chaffing. The horn rattle is gone! Thanks, Mark |
