I'm using a fairly old "Eclipse" tank bag on my Uly, and---while it works OK---it tends to "migrate" left/right somewhat. Pretty annoying at times when I have to nudge it back into position.

Does the Buell tank bag tend to migrate left/right? Or is it pretty stable? If it's stable, I may have to get one. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I have the deluxe Buell tank bag, and it is very stable. The only differences are a couple of external pockets. It straps in as a 3-way harness. The fast-tec buckles screw down at the airbox cover screws. One for each front corner, and a "T" strap for the rear. Mine hasn't moved in over 13k. I forgot the R/F clip and noticed it shifted back left after I was on the hwy, hit 80 before I realized it wasn't locked in place. Stayed secure until I could stop to fasten it.

Deluxe is a great bag. I use it everyday for work. The bag will lean over if you over load it weight wise. I had tools and an air pump in it one time and that was too much for the bag. It stayed okay but kept leaning. With lunch, rain gear, one net and a few other nick-knack, it works great. I've had the bike over 100mph with the bag too so it does not float. The collapsible feature of the bag is great too. For me, when it is expanded the bag blocks most of the gauges. I can see like 40-80mph on the speedo and the top of the tach too. I would recommend the bag, but have to admit, this is my first tank bag. I just never saw the point since I have Ventura stuff, but I got it as a present, used it and liked it. Make sure you wax the air box cover.

An alternative that I found at a BMW rally this summer:

www.chicaneusa.com

Unfortunately, I'm out of town and I can't remember if it's the Canyon or the Baja that these guys fit to my Uly. It worked really well - the front airbox cover screws through the forward straps, rear straps under the seat.

A really high quality bag...

I too have the deluxe tank bag and yes it's very stable, the only problem I have found is a disruptive flow of air around the bag now buffets me from around a 100kmh upwards,I took the bag off and ran the bike up to 180kmh and no buffet, but for the convenience I will put up with that for the extra storage.

The Buell tank bag is probably about the most stable you're going to find.
