I got a Billet Catch Tank about 6 months ago. it looks real nice and i think its good for the engine to not be sucking in all that overflow oil. my problem is that the catch tank doesn't seem to catch much oil. seems that most of it comes right out the over flow/breather port. i have a small K&N filter on the breather port and it constantly drips oil all over my bike and boots. I know i could put a tube going down to the ground but i don't really like the idea of dripping oil on the ground. anyone have any ideas? thanks -Graham- |

I made a "Y" fitting to connect the rocker vents and routed it back through the hole above the rear shock mount and followed the gas tank vent behind the passenger left foot peg with no breather at all. Maybe I should put some kind of filter on it but with about 3 feet to tubing I wasn't worried about moisture back into the rocker box. No dripping or mess yet after 3000 miles. Try running your oil level at the lower end of the dip stick. Seems most people have an oil puking problem if the oil level is maintained above the middle of the full range. |

Agreed. Catch can isn't necessary if you don't overfill the oil. |

but I have the oil level at the bottom of the scale. and i still get a drip. it also could be from doing alot of wheelies causing the oil to spill out of the tank. any ideas? -Graham- |

I've always had problems with those little K&N filters dripping. They seem to be able to filter out all the oil and let it collect until it starts dripping. If you have roughly a foot of line there is not enough time to suck anything into the engine before it's blowing back out again. Get rid of the filter and run a line down below the engine. |
