Does anyone have any news on the removable luggage brackets? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=142838&post=969017#POST969017 |

I emailed Twisted Throttle about this a week or so ago. They replied that there is no new information about any possible brackets for the Uly. |

I originally started the thread on this as an option. My communication with TT was that we needed to have a firm 2-3 dozen orders (probably with a deposit down) in order to get the brackets made. I provided to them the link to the thread and asked that Chris post directly what we needed but after a few reminders to him I let it drop. I suspect if these were available no new buyers would purchase anything else as they would fit a variety of luggage options including the Buell Factory ones but don't make the bike look so gummed up when off. I believe that some existing owners of the current brackets would opt to swap them out for the cleaner look (especially those that don't need luggage all the time). Unfortunately, we only had about a dozen folks express verbal interest and the project has remained in limbo until we can justify the market to build these out. Mark |

I don't even own an Uly (yet) and I might be interested in pre-ordering. I could always sell it later if I buy something different. |

Awesome! Iugradmark, would you be interested in making a list offline with everyones info (Name, email, etc.) and once we have enough, submit it to TT? If you don't want to or don't have the time then I am willing to do it. I would really like to see this happen. We need to show them we are really interested... Once I get your answer people can either pm you or me their info. I like the idea of buying two, I would be willing to do the same and my brother would buy them as well. We can make this happen! Let me know... John |

Okay everyone, Iugradmark and I are talking it through at the moment. It looks like I am going to make the list so I will let you know what info I need from you in a PM. We ARE going to make this work! I will post what I need from you shortly. Also, I will try to get more details about the product... |

If you want interested but not definite parties, please add me to the list. What I'd really love is a removable Rear luggage rack - I'm fine with the stock luggage racks for the side cases, but I need something sturdier than the beaver tail behind the seat. |

We will talk to them about a removable top mount as well. Also, its not removable but it is more sturdy: http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?sku=3 80-0020&-session=touratech:2A43ABA007EAAC593E03691 359B6F237 |

Johnny_uly, Thanks for the link to the Touratech rear rack, but I do loves me the beaver tail. Its upright position helped convert my somewhat motorcycle hostile GF into a huge fan of riding with me. (Well, that and my ever so thoughtful and responsible riding style when she's back there.) It cannot be sacrificed for a sturdier rear rack. |

Okay, just in case some of you all are not sure about this, here is what we are talking about. This is an example of how the system would work. I know, its a BMW but you will get the idea. This picture obviously shows what cases look like on this particular motorcycle: This picture shows what the bike would look like with normal mounts and the cases removed: Next, this is what the bike would look like with the mounts we are going to get manufactured (much cleaner!): And finally the Uly without the cases mounted: As you can see, they engineer their removable racks around the bikes stock bolts to minimize visual impact when not in use. This is a travesty people! Lets work to get this fixed! John photos borrowed from www.twistedthrottle.com and www.advrider.com} |

I'd love to have the ability to have the rack removable AND be able to swap out rearsets. The problem is that with the luggage, I HAVE to use the Uly rearsets. I would like to be able to use the S or R rearsets instead. Just a though. |

I really don't consider the looks of the bag mounts to be a travesty. I just leave my bags on, and I think the bike looks fine. I also think that the Givi bags look like giant clams, and much prefer the H-Bs. However, taste is very subjective, so get what you prefer. It is, after all, your bike. |

Crusty, I agree if you leave your bags on all the time then there isn't much reason to want these brackets. Regarding Givi v. HB, the nice thing about these racks is that the end user can pick which they like. The brackets fit HB (the Buell ones and others), Givi, Krauser, and more. Johnny, are you keeping a spreadsheet of who has committed to picking up a set? I just want to make sure I don't fall of the list, and that we've got a good running tally of how many sets folks are prepared to purchase. Thanks for taking point on this! |

As Mark said, you can choose which cases you want. Those pics were just to give you an idea of what the product is. About the travesty thing, it was a little bit of humor ;) Trying to drum up more interest! Smcnamara, I have everyone on this list and the last one. I am going to get more info from everyone once we find out what TT needs to know. Don't worry, if you are posted I will post when I need more info and / or PM everyone on the list. John |
