What you do is more important than how old you are when doing it.

I am sooo average... instead of BB&D I should be posting to Average, Nice and Laundered. Put me down for 47 which will be true in 10 days. Been riding only 23 years. The wife knows I need to ride to stay relatively sane, bless her soul, and she was the one who chose Orange.

For my 50th birthday my wife asked what I would like. I told her I'd like to go for a long ride on my Uly. So, on my birthday I was riding to homecoming! Touring Road America and riding Buell demo bikes! Four days, 1,760 miles and very happy!

I just returned from a 1,450 mile trip to Northern Pa for a wedding. My wife had to leave a week earlier to help with the event so I HAD to ride my bike up there.

38 too old......you should be riding with training wheels, that's for sure!

I'm 57. My wife has never voiced any objection to my riding because, in her words: "you were already going steady with your bike before I met you."

my grandfather is 82, and still rides daily. I dont think he would be on a Buell for the style he rides. I cannot remember a day that he has not ridden at least somewhere. ( the weather in the south is so much better)

I am 40 going on 41, and I ride almost every day, I ride to work, I ride dirt bikes on hard core trails and I ride track days on my SV. Let your wife know that if she thinks that 38 is old she is probably the old one. shame on her.....

My Mrs is a health professional.
Senior manager.

Lots of her work associates are rather 'conservative'.

I was getting on my Thunderbird (the one she bought me) after a visit to her office - when this woman - known to us as 'The DO' because of the behive bun hair style that she always wore - appeared out of the door.

Half jokingly she sneered - 'Having a second childhood are we, David.'

'No way!' I said buckling up the helmet.

'Still haven't finished with the FIRST'.

Engage Warp 7 out of the car park.

I'm one of those five decade guys, as I just turned 50. I have my Uly, the wife's crashed Lightning SS(finally got the correct color wheels in to finish the repair today), and the Blast. I've always had dirt bikes and dual sports before the last year and a half. I'm having so much fun on the street that I'm thinking about the 1125R, as If I'm going to ever buy a sport bike it should be soon. Besides, It would look good to have 4 Buells in the garage. Are you ever too old to be a hulagan?

The last week in Sept. my riding buddy and I are taking off for two weeks of twisty roads. He just turned 75 this week. If your riding down to TWO campground on Georgia 60 and see an old guy on a green Harley Ultra try to keep up, you might learn something!!!

Today I took a short ride, just a bit over 400 miles. Thats not much distance compared to some of my recent trips.

I've been riding for three years and have put somewhat over 40,000 miles on the three bikes I have owned. I'll do day trips to Deals Gap, Shady Valley, or up into Virginia that run about 700 miles. I ride twisty roads, and roads covered with gravel. I've had the back tire wash out, lock up, and blow out (not at the same time.) I've ridden on mud, ice, and rocks. I've ridden in storms, wind, and a little snow. I've not dropped the bike due to any of this.

Occasionally I'll reflect on all this and conclude that I'm getting to be an experienced rider. Then I'll have a day like today and realize what a complete noob I am.

I ride with some incredably good people. Today it was Ferris, M2nc, Twig, Bigdaddy, and myself. Nutsosane was there too, but he had to leave before we got to do much riding. After he left, I, at 40 years old, was the youngest. Most of these guys have been riding since they were kids, meaning they have 30 or 40 years of experience.

Ferris lead the first leg of the journey. He warned us to be careful as the road was wet, and lead us down a winding road across some mountians. One of those roads where you look over the edge and see the road about 100 feet below you. I started off right behind Ferris, but eventually pulled over and motioned everyone by as I couldn't keep up. IT PISSES ME OFF THAT I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH A ROAD KING WHEN I'M ON AN ADVENTURE SPORTBIKE. Right before we made our first stop I was getting tried and crossed over the centerline on a hairpin turn. I decided to slow down and motioned a couple of sportbikes behind our group to pass me.

We stopped at a store shortly after that and took our gear off. The two sportbikes pulled in as well. TWO WHITE HAIRED MEN WERE RIDING THOSE BIKES. I was embarassed. I know what they were thinking, "there's the squid who can't keep it in his lane." They were nice though, up from Greensboro for the day.

Which is all to say, no 38 is not too old to ride a bike. By the time I'm 60 I might actually be good at it. It's going to be fun to see.

52, just returned from a trip where I met 8 buddies from Kansas, and I was the youngest one in the bunch. The worst part was I had to remember how to attach a tent and bag to the bike as these guys are really old school. No hotels allowed.

58, '06 Uly, '07TT, '03 S3,'06 Honda XR650L, rode 18000 miles last year. Started when I was 12. The SO is 54, has an '06 Uly, 89 Heritage she put 140,000 miles on herself and an '04 Suzuki DRZ400S. I told her that when I start to drool she should put me in a sidecar, give me a bottle of Tequila and head south on Rt. 1 in California at sunset. When the bottle is 3/4 gone, pull the pin and wave to me.

ROFLMAO! It pisses me off that I have a have a hard time keeping up with my wife now. So I know the feeling : )

Besides, 90% of riding fast, is the rider, not the bike.

Very Interesting... I too am 59 and have a Tuono, a ULY, a HD FXDX, and a KTM 450 EXC. The 06 ULY has 31K on it and I ride the Harley a bunch, love that 95" inch beast, and am going to a two day Dual Sport on the KTM this weekend... One day a cop pulled me over on the Tuono,I was way over the speed limit. He was shocked to see an old grey haired guy pull off a full face helmet, on a "crotch rocket" he said as much, and let me go, that was funny...... I guess he thought if that old fool wants to ride like that he doesn't have much time left here on Earth, so leave him alone. Old guys have it in their blood... BAD.

Good to know.

I suppose that makes my 50 years and 35 riding years downright paleolithic.}

"Paleolithic" your killing me! Hey maybe a dinosaur themed paint job.
I will be 42 in December and until march this year I hadn't ridden in 16 years. I didn't realize how much I missed it and how much it truly is a part of me. Age be damned.
