I've heard that when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. With all the talk about the heat pouring out from under the seat, I've decided to wrap my breakfast burritto in tin foil and place it under the seat of the bike for my morning commute. 54 miles should do it, I hope.
If anyone has ideas or recipies for cooking on the go using a bike, please feel free to share them here.
I will post the results of this culinary experiment later if anyone is interested.

I would think a nice Venison stake with some onions and peppers would be great after about 54 miles. You really don't want to over cook deer meat.

I liked the little metal box that Alton Brown showed on the 1st "Feasting on Asphalt."

They snapped it onto the exhaust headers of one of their BMWs and cooked on the road.

Then he bought a "12volt,lunchbox oven," but that blew the fuse on his bike so he had to finish cooking the meatloaf in the crew's car when they got to the hotel.

Now I actually include food network in my channel surfing.

Good show, fun guy. But he needs to get a Uly in the mix of all the BMW's that they use.

Ya.....what's with the Fasting on Asphalt (in America) on a F'in German bike. If he was snortin snitzel in the fatherland....yes a BMW.....but here in the old Red, White and Blue???? ..... he needs a Buell (well at least a Road King or a Glide!).
Anybody here able to hook A-man up with an addictive test ride?

He certainly would have been better off on a Uly last year when he dropped the BMW bagger on the dirt road and hurt his arm.
This year I notice he's on a different bike.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that he rides a beemer, ya might get him to try a Buell but his friends all seem to belong to the beemer club.

It seems like BMW sponsors some of it too because other things get the dark pen or gaffer tape treatment.

He earned my respect when he wouldn't let them cut The Vanson leather jacket from him though.

Panhead Dan,

That is hilarious!

I can't wait to hear how it turns out.

I used to cook potatoes while working on a potato digging crew. I would just grab a few spuds, wrap them in tin foil, through them up near the exhaust manifold for about 45 minutes and then have them for lunch.

Bon Apetit

I placed the burrito in the forwardmost part of the underseat storage area and when I got to work, it was warm. Not hot. The burrito was fridge temp when I put it under the seat. A frozen one would not work, for sure. Maybe I should ziptie it across the fan.

how about a little tray or box on the left side of the engine. a nice little flat spot on top of the primary looks like a good place. would get lots of heat off the heads.

No way that a place where a battery and electronics have to live is going to get hot enough to cook a bureeeeto.
Maybe stuffing it in the hole between the shock mount and the airbox cover so it is resting on the rear cylinder head cover? That ought to get hot enough...

Get closer to the exhaust. That is where the heat is.

MMMMMMM Burritos. The last few weeks have been like an oven here in good ole VA. Had me out at a warehouse loading some trucks with no microwave for about a mile. So I left my tupperware container of roast and potato's in my tail bag one day. By 1PM on a 98 degree day it was steaming. Acted like a big crockpot. Not as ingenious as PanheadDans underseat ulywave oven but it worked.

weld in a slide tray into the under slung exhaust? kind of like an "oven door" ;) for an easy bake oven. If the light bulb can cook brownies, that exhaust should right up make a burrito hum

come to think of it, the air "box" breather off of the old tubers would make a good lunch bucket, just gotta get some of the heat through it. Kind of dark in this pic, but we all know the "box" that I am talking about
