I'm heading to New Zealand this October, and was hoping some of you NZ locals could hook me up with some information. Is there any place to rent bikes there? Also, what should I put on my itenerary to see? |

If you are coming to nz, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do the south island, some of the best riding is in the south.Christchurch has bike rentals, dont know which airport you are coming in to,but i would say Auckland will definitely have one.I'm bias i would only do the south island.places to see christchurch, dunedin, catlins, fiordland, queenstown, westcoast, nelson christchurch. |

There are places in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch that you can just rent bikes from. Most also run tours, which are meant to be excellent. http://www.motorbiketours.co.nz http://www.biketoursnz.com The first one is more off-road (fireroads not real dirt as you are on GS's) Uly_Kiwi got it just about spot on, although the best trip may be to replicate one of the tours that is on the "biketousnz" map - they look pretty good, especially the one from cape to cove which lets you take in some of the North Island too. If you are pushed for time then just stick to the South Island. |

www.amps.co.nz will do you a hawg or a triumph. ask for lou. They have a - Pick up in Auckland return to Christchurch - thing that would be my choice. Start North Head south - and go where the weather is best. South island is more spectacular. two thirds of the itinerary min. 2 weeks is a good tour. 5 days is a lap of both islands. |
