It seems that here in Northern Calif. the Harley/Buell dealerships don't support the Buell side very well. I am having a hell of a time finding an 08 Uly much less one I can test ride. All the dealers I have called don't have one, aren't getting one and don't seem to care too much one way or the other. The dealer in Chico has one, but it's sold. They also told me they weren't getting another one in. All they have is an XB12TT and a City X. This is rather discouraging. If they don't want to sell them where do I go to get service and accessories? I prefer to spend my money locally, but have been searching as far south as Folsom with no luck. Is this the norm for Buells? Do the dealers prefer to sell Harleys? If so, I may have to reconsider my options here. I hate the idea of traveling hundreds of miles for the bike much less service and such..... RON PS I guess I was spoiled by having the best BMW dealer in the country 14 miles from home. | ||

Sleez, Have you used Ukiah for any service? Just wondering about whether their mechanics know how to work on the bikes. | ||

no, i do all my own. i just don't trust anyone to pay the kind of attention to detail that i do. sorry i have no knowledge of their service as it pertains to buells. i know the owner and buell salesman are very pro buell and sell quite a few every year. i would suspect they are better than average, but that is based solely on my interactions with the sales staff and parts counter. just spoke with dan in sales, they have a black 08 uly and a blue 08 uly, he said they may be able to swing a short test ride. give him a call. he also said their buell machanic is pretty good and fully certified, and has rebuilt a few from the frame up. for what it's worth (Message edited by sleez on August 30, 2007) (Message edited by sleez on August 30, 2007) | ||

I find that one of the biggest problems with Buells is exactly that the dealers do no support or believe in the product, I think that if they had them in stock they might actually sell them. Now, I also agree that probably a larger part of the problem stems from the fact that Harley does not push the product enough to the dealers. It will be difficult to reach a day when Buell will be as mainstream as Honda simply because it is so hard to get them. | ||

I used to live near Ukiah... I like the Ukiah Harley shop - good folks - is Duale still there? I live near Auburn Harley now. I bought my Uly there. Try them too. | ||

Gsron, yep it would seem to defy all capitalist marketing protocol that the buying experience for a new Buell is very lame. Don't let that obstacles deter your quest, once you get it you won't much care about the BS dealer aspect of ownership. I skipped the whole test ride deal and just made the purchase. You will love it. | ||

gsron I meet you the other day in Paradise (Orange Uly). I bought and have my Uly serviced at Aurburn Harley, they have a great service dept and very helpful sales people. The thing is they are not stocking Buells as of this year? They say that they will continue sell Buells, but only to order.On the upside it's a great ride to Auburn if you go the back way! | ||

Turnero2 you are right the guys at Auburn are/were very nice to talk to. The rest of the Sac area dealers are/were very anti Buell. I stood around one dealer Sat and looked at the 3 old Buells they had. Nobody said HI, Bye or Kiss my Ass. I then went and stood near some chrome thing-a-ma-jig from Harley and had 3 sales guys in 30 seconds. When I said I was interested in Buells 2 of them walked away. The 3rd told me I should buy a crashed, leftover 06 demo they had for list price as there were "absolutly no changes on the 08s". I called Bull, told the owner?/manager his sales staff was comprised of morons and left... Next Sat I guess it's off to the dealership in Ukiah. | ||

Gsron, Also give a shout out to McGuire's in Walnut Creek. They sell quite a few Buells and 3 of their mechanics ride Buells as well. They have a decent amount of riding gear as well. | ||
