Well just got my 10,000 mile service done at the dealer and instead of the bike running like a freshly tuned beast it wont idle until its warm(idle jumps from 1000 to almost dead a few times then dies, restart it again, usually dies once more then seems to at least stay running) I figure the TPS was set improperly.
I mutter some foul words about the dealer and how I cant wait to start servicing her my self. Then I realize they didnt replace the front brake rotor they where supposed to !!!!!

Well, called the dealer and got a hundred sorrys and made a saturday appointment to get the brake rotor replaced and the TPS reset. This all took place last saturday and now today on the way home the uly started hanging up around 2000 rpm....Would rev the motor to see what was going on, rev to 3500 and watch it hang uup at 2000 rpm and in a few moments(5 seconds +/-) it would settle down @ around 1000. This continues for the remainder of my stop and go commute and when I finally get home the bike just idles @2000rpm and even blipping the throttle, jiggling the throttle wires, nothing seems to help calm it down.... So my question is, could this be a tps issue or should I look else where? Dont think its the throttle cable sticking as it seems to be smooth as butter. Any help is appreciated

Sounds like a bad tps reset like you said, maybe they did it cold?
And it sounds like the idle is set too high for when it's warm. (part of the bad reset.)
Adjuster near scoop/front pipe for idle, long allen key and a glove.

hope the "third time is the charm". sounds like you need to give them another try at it. maybe ask them to take it for a thorough test ride when they are done this time. good luck.

Just got back from doing a once over and all looked well, nothing jumped out at me as a possible issue. fired it up and now idles fine...a touch high if you ask me, around 1100 or so, blip the throttle and revs up and down just fine so i'm not going to adjust the idle.
just yet.
I read somewhere that a trip to the dealer usually ends up being 3, one for the scheduled, one to take back to dealer to fix what ever it is that they screwed up, and last trip is to buy the parts and end up doing it yourself...

1100 is too high for the idle speed. That alone will cause the problem you describe. It would be much easier to adjust the idle than go through the dealer thing. I have been there. It only takes a minute to adjust it.

The idle speed should be at 1050. My two XB's would not tolerate being even five RPM higher without having the "float down, hanging idle speed". Mine have always run best at just over 1000 RPM warm idle speed.

The key here also is fully warmed up. If the tech set the idle when it was not fully warmed up that will cause the problem too.

100 % agreement with Etennuly's comments; mine would hang at 2000 rpm when it was HOT, like stop and go traffic. Idle was at 1100 after a TPS reset.
Had the TPS reset by a Badwebber, and idle set lower at the same time. Dramatic improvements all around -- better gas mileage, performance, and idling.

Does sound like they need to check TPS and idle speed again since they probably changed it. Mine stuck like that once when I was heading to the dealer. It had about 800 miles on it and was hanging up at about 2400 for probably 20 minutes on the way there. After showing it to them while it was still running I shut it off, started it back up and it was ok. It did it a few more times and then stopped doing it. As for trips to the dealer, I am on my 4th trip this week for a problem they created when it was in for another problem. I love my ULY, but it's been like a really hot chick that's high maintenance. Hope things work out.

Mine was doing the same thing at my 1000 service. It was a bad TPS reset.
