I'm 38. This summer I rode from Colorado back home to Iowa. In one day. If your wife thinks you're too old for a bike, perhaps you should replace her with a younger model who doesn't agree!

I'm 65, got my first bike (Triumph 650) in 1963. Presently riding a '97 Dyna FXD, my last bike before that was a Buell M2. My wife does not like to ride, either as a driver or a passenger, and I'm cool with that. But she does not begrudge me a moment of the time I spend on two wheels and certainly does not get involved in selecting motorcycles for me. Jack |

25+ post in less than 2 hours, I's say that wife touched a nerve, I am 42 and I have 2 kids under 6 y/o and we're trying for a third. My Uly is the last thing I would think about when discussing age. Sorry, but it sounds like she has her eye on a new kitchen remodeling project, let the negotiations begin p |

Ya, she does want a new kitchen, and 20 acres for her horses to go with the kitchen. lol But horses are much safer. (Message edited by chrisgrant on August 27, 2007) |

38 is too old? I've been riding longer than you've been alive. Bring home a walker and use it around the house, then buy a bicycle and enter a triathlon and sign her up too. Would she rather be married to an athlete or a sofa spud. |

My wife said me riding a one year old bike is better than riding an 18 year old waitress. I don't know what she meant by it. I ran out of the house to buy it so quickly that I didn't bother to contemplate it. |

51 years old, really been riding for only 5 years (not counting mini-bikes owned as a kid , friend's bikes sampled in high school, and an abandoned Honda 250XL my father-in-law let me have). My wife said it's better I'm riding something with two wheels than riding something with two legs.

Hi; I will be 66 next month. Sold my E/G three months ago because it was to heavy, and bought an STT. Average 600 miles a week. Sungull |

45 here. I've been riding for 30 years now. Funny thing I like doing is going up to Alices in the Santa Cruz mountains and watching all the really old guys get off their rice burners after a spirited ride. Real old riders don't stop riding. They just go faster! LOL Your wife is just looking for an excuse to have you not ride. That's the best she could come up with??? BTW the Ulysses is NOT a sportbike. It is the most stable and forgiving ride I have ever owned. Yes it can spank a lot of sportbikes in the twisties but it won't run fast enough to drag race them though. It does have all you need to have more fun than is legal and best of all you can do that with her on it too! She needs to loosen up. Just make sure you're insured very well just in case the unthinkable happens. My brother in-law has led a very safe life and recently fell from a ladder and suffered permanent brain damage. The moral I'm sure you've heard before. Live life to the fullest extent possible because you never know when your number is up. It doesn't matter what you do but how you do it that counts! BC Steve |

Hi - I'm 53 and my wife is 55 and we ride two up dual sporting - have been for years... she's an active passenger - really gets into it. She also has a horse and reads avidly about everything related to horses and riding. According to her horseback riding is more dangerous - statistically - than motorcycling. I ride horses too but bikes are my passion... Our safety is something I pray regularly about. You can buy each other safety gear when one of those gift giving occasions roll around! |

"My wife said me riding a one year old bike is better than riding an 18 year old waitress." my question is, what did the 18 year old waitress look like? |

I'm 54 years old, been riding for 34 years, own a Buell XB9R Firebolt and before that an X1 Lightning Buell, before that 15 years on a Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans MkIII, before that 1 Ducati 900, 2 Yamahas, 1 Honda and various trail and trials bikes. Still own an ES2 Norton and BSA 250 C11. Oh yeah and I'm a woman. The boss girl in my girls motorbike club rides a Guzzi and she is 57 and her dad is in his 80s and rides a big Jap bike and her 2 sisters and brother also ride bikes. You are never too old. |

42 and riding since I was 18. I ride a little less than I did 10 years ago, but still put over 15K miles per year on my bikes. I went through most of the 80's without owning a car. |

41 and although my wife isn't crazy about me having a bike, with many of the same objections, she does know how much I need it. Yes I said need. Until this year I had gone without now I realize how much happier I am riding again. Major stress relief. |

BTW the Ulysses is NOT a sportbike. I think M2nc keeps empty bags on his Uly as it makes more of a point when he smokes sportbikes. |
