I had them for my RK-C (which I no longer own) and they were pricey for service of which the majority of looked to be "flash light PM".

I am curious as to whether or not they are a good Buell shoppe with regard to service, parts and the like. I am still trying to get a better quote on insurance for any 1203cc Buell as my insurer GEICO wants $800 per year for a Uly but $450 for a CityX.

I am interested in either the Uly or the CityX, both 2008 models. They are not yet at San Diego HD-Buell, but I prefer the advancements listed for this model year on both bikes. Why a TPS reset should have ever been required or needed as frequently as it seems escapes such as I, but then I am not a genius. : D

My DR650 and GL1800 cost that much to insure ($450) together. Go figure. Oh well, if any of you folk have any experience with this shoppe, good or bad, please post it. If this is a violation of forum rules, then I ask that a Mod please state as much and remove this posting.

I did try a search using "San Diego:, but failed to turn up any thing notable.

I am with Farm Bureau and pay about 400 a year for an 07 Uly. 41, in South Dakota.

Why a TPS reset should have ever been required or needed as frequently as it seems escapes such as I

My TPS was reset at 4,000 miles. Now, at over 26,000 miles it needs to be reset again. I don't consider that to be unreasonably frequent.
That said, I also like the improvements to the '08s, and would prefer one to an earlier model, if I were buying now.
Come to think of it, we are buying my wife an '08 XB12Ss, and passed on a good price for an '07 to get an '08.

If you are looking to buy, I have a friend who works in sales at San Diego, they have treated me right when I have needed them, including selling my Sportster on consignment.

Is it Leah? When I bought my RK-C there in '04 I worked with Phred, a Buell enthusiast that all so raced Buells.

Has the dealer been good with regard to service, recalls, warranty work, etc.?

I seem to recall reading about one fellow here or else where that had difficulty with his TPS and it required re-setting every few thousand miles. Of course, your's sounds fine, and I tend to be quite what worry some.

This is the comment I received from a riding friend regarding where he bought his firebolt.

"I bought mine from one of the best Buell dealerships in this part of the state: San Diego Buell at Kettner Avenue (near the SD International Airport). I picked them because they were knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and many of their staff rode Buells. They also race Buells so their mechanics are top notch. Too bad they're so far away. A good friend of mine also bought his Lightning there and couldn't be happier!

I just had my Firebolt serviced at O.C. Buell. They charged me $95 for a Throttle Position Sensor reset. This is a $50 job at most. I was very pissed. I would not go back there again unless I was desperate.

However, nothing wrong with test riding their Ully and buying it if you get a good deal. Let me know how things go there.

I still recommend San Diego Buell at Kettner Ave."

Any chance they do rentals? I get out there for work once and awhile, and it always pisses me off to rent some stupid car with such great weather. : )

Yes, San Diego's Kettner store downtown is excellent, they always have about 7-10 Buells in the store at all times and a VERY good variety of Buell gear with a very friendly and knowledgable staff on hand, plus it is a cool store and cool location.

My friend is Mike Willer from the main store (he moved from Biggs), and yes, they do rentals there. Since I live in Huntington Beach and hate the prices and service at OC H-D (they used to carry Bells, stopped, became very Buell un-friendly, and now sell Buells again, but they lost me as a customer a long time ago when they treated me like I wasn't worth their time), I had my first service done at Biggs, which was acceptable, really a very nice store, and pretty good staff, although I found service a bit on the slow side and Buell gear lacking. Not wanting to run down to San Diego for every service, I am due for my 5000-mile, so I am going to try Skip Fordyce in Riverside this week. They have a Pegasus award and seem to be pretty Buell friendly, and I am told they will pick up your bike for free and deliver it after servicing, but I am not using that for this round.

They also have a satellite store in Corona, which is closer, but I don't know if it is as good as the Riverside store. I am interested to see how pricey they are.

Anyone have a ballpark for what a 5000-mile service should run?

I stopped in there today and saw that they have a 2007 Uly for (prior to TTL, etc.) $11,995.
