A few weeks I downloaded the 1000 bochtenrit (1000 corners ride)

This ride takes place in the Ardennes and it crosses the borders of Germany and Luxembourg.
Last tuesday I went out.

I did some finetuning to the route in Mapsource so I moved the start en end of the ride near the N4 instead of more east.

Pictures of the start of the ride just a few miles past Namur on a overpass of the N4

After quit some miles and looking for a gasstation that was open and I did have some trouble finding one I rode into Francorchamps.
Drove past the circuit, nice road with great corners & asphalt btw

Time to move and into Germany

Although the roads were wet I only got a little rain.

Here I decided to make a stop and have a sandwich, drink a bit and make some pics.

As miles passed and we moved into Luxembourg, the Uly needed to drink also so I did a search in the Garmin for the closest gasstation. Only 3 miles away, no probs...

I did find a station a few miles further.

Time to take a pose, this is already back in Belgium.

Luckaly the weather went from grey into sunshine which was also very nice.

Riding makes hungry and I could use some calories and some sunrays. I passed a nice snackbar, made a U-turn, and ordered me some fries.

Not my best shot.

After this wonderfull meal it was time to move on again, I had only done 2/3 of the ride.

Miles later I needed to get gas again as I wanted to be on the safe side with gasstaions that were closed. Again a search in the Garmin got me here

but again a second search did get me to an open station.

Almost at the end of the ride I passed the N411, the major highway from Brussels to Luxembourg. I took these pics from an overpass.

Screenshot from the Garmin, all distances are in kilometers and not in miles !!

That's great. I live in the big open areas over here in the states and really miss the woods and mountains. I have seen to great ride reports now and both contained fries for meals is this a common meal, just fries. I must be a real carnivore I almost always need some kind of meat. Beef, pork, fish, fowl, a fry only meal would leave me wanting. I am nut for hot dogs, when I am on the road. Keep the nice pics and rides coming, great work.

The fries are what Mc Donalds would be for you guys. A quick bite and move on. Next to the fries is a meat snack, it's a sausage also fried with added diced unions, mayonaise & ketchup. Together with the coke it makes for a fat snack

For my next ride I'll try to have a different snack

Sprockets! That was Mike Myers who played the crazy German in the Saturday Night Live skit.

Galloper, wanna trade Uly's along with countries? You can come ride mine in California and the rest of the beautiful Northwest US, and I can go ride yours in Europe. That would be like a timeshare program, only with motorcycles instead of living quarters. : )

Sure. Mine's "out of commission" most of the time, though.

I thought I was the only one with a black t-shirt problem.

I think we need a 12 step program! : D

I wondered what was next to the fries. Sausage! now you are talking my language. I am half German regardless of the Italian last name. I think sausage is a genetic thing I just love it. I wonder what the cost of taking my bike to Europe would be, Hmmmm.

Another classic from MM:

Not only is it classic Mike Myers, but it has Nicole Kidman before she had voice lessons.

Great idea, 1,000 corners. Nice pics and report Galloper. Any chance you can upload the Garmin file of that route? I'm over there in the next few weeks (going to Austria, but may detour) and it looks like a good couple of days ride.

I would say they are all leaving to go find gasoline since all the stations around Luxembourg are defunct.
