If you want cheap, and fair mileage, try these

Cheap tires generally are exactly what they are.

I liken this to the debate about helmets. Sure some of the $70 helmets protect just as good or better than my Aria's. But one thing they do not take into consideration is comfort which as we all know is a major issue when riding a motorcycle.

Cheap usually denotes quality, inexpensive is a price indicator. Why be cheap with one of the two small and tremendously important contact patches that keep you on the road? If there is one place NOT to cut corners (cost) it has to be the tires due to the role they play in the stability and handling of any vehicle.

I've got the Raven 009's on my Ulysses. They work just fine for me, but I don't ride like "ricky racer" either.

It'd be nice to see an objective test of them... If they stick reasonably well, are constructed reasonably well, but perhaps are heavier or not as cosmetically pleasing... then it might make sense for some people.

But no way of knowing, and the rear was only 30% cheaper then a scorpion sync... so it's not that compelling yet.

That tire place is right here in Dayton, dealt with them several times (in person, on phone, and over internet) and always had a good experience.

Reep,
If your asking about the Ravens, on the street, they seem to stick as well as the stock Dunlops, for me.

You are right though, someone would have to go to a track and crank off some laps in anger to know "the whole truth."

All I can say is for what they cost, I'm happy.

009 Raven Radial: SHINKO 120/70ZR17 F009 1 $54.99

009 Raven Radial: SHINKO 180/55ZR17 R009 1 $79.99

Totals
Sub Total $134.98
(0%) Tax $0.00
Shipping $19.90
Total $154.88

...I'm thinking that looking for "cheap" dentists, "cheap" doctors, and "cheap" motorcycle tires could all lead to some pretty bad outcomes.

I just got the Shinko Advance tires. Can't tell ya about mileage but as for wet/dry traction, they seem pretty good.

I am a Pilot Road convert. I have over 6k on the rear and expect it will last at least another 2k miles. I'm going to try the
Pilot Road 2 next. It's supposed to last even longer.

I got 6k out of a set of the ravens. They werent bad, but not as sticky as the dunlops for me.

Tomahawk tires are an inexpensive alternative as well. I have a friend on his third set, and he swears by them.
