Ride the Uly to work everyday, rain or shine. (Have to drive if it gets icy.)

Switch weekend rides between the Uly and Road King depending on the task at hand... Road King for long distance cruise with the wife, Uly for off road or carving.

Used to commute on the Road King, but the Uly is better at it and is easier to clean (or not) so the RK is purely toy now.

A person would have to be insane to commute in Chicago with a motor vehicle of any kind. I'm fortunate enough to work within bicycling distance (8 miles) of my house.

I use the Uly on weekends and vacations for touring.

Sometimes I just go sit on it or stand in the garage staring at it.

I walk about 80 feet to work. I use the Uly for work though. Then I have these fellow riders that call me every Thursday or Friday to tell me where I will meet them for a Saturday ride.

Just last night I rode the bike up a ramp into a box truck to deliver it 50 miles back to a customer lot. I unloaded the bike and had a nice cruise back to the shop. During busy season I will sometimes do this up to six times a day, twenty to ninety miles either riding out to get a truck or returning oneI know, it's good work if you can get it, but I set it up this way on purpose.

Then of course after the 250 to 450 mile Saturday rides, I get to occasionally hit the road for a longer ride, like Thunder Beach in Florida, and homecoming, and I am headed out in a couple of weeks for a 2000 mile excursion into Pa., NY., and over to Mi., Then back to Tn. to tour the Smoky Mountains with my friends from Pa. Also a trip to central Al. to meet up with my son on his Road King. And then there is Buelltoberfest of course, and maybe a trip to Barber.

I don't know if the bike is a tool or a toy, but it has taken on a life of its own and is dragging me all over the place. My life has become full of Buell.

My Uly is the first choice whenever I need/want to go anywhere, so that's what I use most of the time. When it's not appropriate due to carrying capacity, passenger capacity, or weather, I drive the pickup. It's both.

Strictly a tool. Use it to commute back and forth to work (5 miles each way) or to MSF classes (12 miles each way). I have the kids on my days off so the bike is parked and I'm trapped in a Suburban with 3 small monsters. Needless to say, had it over a year and only put 5300 miles on it. My buddy across town Dr. Greg has probably close to 7X the miles I do and gets to do some amazing rides.

Xbimmer,
Come get the keys....fifteen years and I'm burned out....I've been having problems lately on my return trips to the shop. I want to go the other way.....and keep on going!

Did I tell you how hot it is in the back of a box truck that has been closed up, to load and tie down and unload the bike? The afternoon runs on the hot pavement have been nearly unbearable lately. We work in the heat in the shop too. Just don't want you to get your hopes up too high.
