I bought mine here in the Bay area before anyone had even seen one in Aug 05. It was the first one in the area! It showed up at the dealer on a Friday and I rode it out of there the next day. Salesmen were pissed because they didn't get a chance to even look at it! People thought I was crazy to buy a first year production sight unseen but I have been truly satisfied with it!
I wouldn't give it up for anything!!!!

Sweet, thanks for the info guys. I am sure I will get a Uly but I still have slight reservations about the 08. Torque is good : ) Will have to wait till someone gets their hands on a full production 08 I guess. Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread and thanks for the info everyone!

+1 Stevem......06, 07, 08,.....for a tried and true motorcylist the Uly is a must try bike! And it quickly turns into a "must keep"! Can't imagine not having a Uly in the stable no matter what year.

I traded my '06 Uly on a FXDWG and did'nt regret my decision too much (wife was much happier) until seeing and reading about the '08 in sturgis. I keep saying there will be a Buell in my future again when finances allow. Things are certainly getting interesting. Thanks for the ride report electraglider! I was too busy riding this year to do any demos. I usually always demo something when I'm in sturgis. Rode the Wideglide straight through and back from Duluth (always ride straight through). 15 plus hours with my friend on his BMW and 12 hrs 43 min. on the way back by myself. Very enjoyable ride. Every bit as comfy as my FLHT was and far more comfy than the ULY. I missed showing my BMW bud my tail light leaving on Nemo and vanocker canyon roads like on the ULy last year, but the Wideglide performed pretty well for the raked out cruiser it is.

Anyway, won't take up anymore time. I miss badweb. I'm turning into a lurker again.

Fastfxrs,
Funny you should mention Vanocker Canyon Road and Nemo Road. My wife, son, and I camp (for free) in the Black Hills National Forest overlooking Vanocker Canyon Rd when we come out to Sturgis. Once the hoards of bikes riding between Rapid City and Sturgis settle down for the night (about 9pm) the forest becomes very quiet except for wildlife sounds. At the elevation of our campsite it becomes very cool at night for good sleeping inside the tent. No mosquitoes either. A couple of times the coyotes have come close to our camp and commenced their unearthly howling which at times is just weird sounding. Sounds like demons. There apparently are elk in the forest because I've talked to a 4-wheeler rider that had drawn a coveted elk tag. I'm extremely happy that 99.99% of the bikers that tent camp do so in the organized camps near Sturgis: Glencoe and Buffalo Chips are a couple of camps that come to mind. From past experience I know that they are noisy, hot, and want something like $20/night to put up with all the crazy goings on. Typically the showers are foul, the outhouses even more so. For me, I'll get about 4 gallons of water at the DakotaMart in Sturgis and camp in the forest and enjoys the sounds of nature.

Amen to that Electraglider, I've been camping right next door to Crazy Horse monument for the past six years. Maybe a lone harley rumbling by in the middle of the night, but mostly erie quiet. We hear coyotes up in the hills too. The people that run Herritage Village campground are like family to us. Showers are clean and the camping cabins (2 rooms, electric and no plumbing) are clean and very affordable. We used to stuff 4 in a cabin to save even more money but we've had fewer of us coming out the last few years. This year was the best time I've had out there in years. Met a fellow H.O.G. member from New Zeland. He shipped his wideglide over. Built his own springer front end and forward controls. Interesting bit of engineering. We went to the Full Throttle Saloon with a group from a Chapter in France. Those guys were having way too much fun. The leader would blow a whistle and they would all break out into some frech drinking song. Sorry if I highjacked the thread. I'm still real interested in the changes to the '08 Uly.
