I'm new to the board and having been reading up on the Uly. I would like to pick one up, but like everyone else money is always an issue. Are there any huge drawbacks to either buying a used 06 or trying to find a new 06 versus buying a new 08? I've seen 06's going in the $8000 range and thought it might be an easy way to save some cash (for mods) ;) I'm still building on my 07 Road King and need to keep things under control if you know what I mean! Cheers Butch |

My Vote would be spend it on the 08, to me $4000 difference is not enough I would still get the 08. They look the same, but they are not. |

buy the first available Ulysses, PERIOD!!! they are all good and you won't believe how much fun they are to ride! My biggest mistake was to wait until the end of May 2006 to purchase my Ulysses, I could have had one earlier, but I waited. My mistake! |

Roadking, in your situation I would definitely hunt down a good'06.....yeah the '08 has many improvements but I can tell you the 06 is still one helluva bike and a bunch of fun to ride. I bet when you get your King together that the Uly will get more seat time. I got a used '06 Uly this year for $7200 and it ended up pushing my Street Glide out the door so someone else could enjoy it because I just didn't ride it much. The Uly is that good. No worries on '06 do shop around there are some smokin deals out there like the one on e eBay that went yesterday for $6k with bags and 13.5k miles. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buell-XB12X-Ulysses -Adventure-Low-Reserve_W0QQitemZ170134651726QQihZ0 07QQcategoryZ6704QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZView Item |

Roadking, I've got a 2006 Orange Uly for sale. 7K well-cared for miles; high windshield; comfort grips. Pretty much stock. Never off-road. All work done by dealer every 2500 miles. $7800. |

Roadking; you can't go wrong. The '06 is a great bike. I love mine. However, the improvements on the '08 make it an even better bike. If money's tight, buy the '06. If you're a bit more solvent, get the '08. Either way, you'll have a neat bike that's a hoot to ride. |

Tough call, especially in light of the known improvements of the '08 over the '06. For me, if the low speed surging and loud fan are fixed for '08, I'd wait. |

if the low speed surging and loud fan are fixed for '08 I might have a black '07 for sale...

Atoms, Ditto although early test riders are not reporting an improvement in the surging issue. |

+1 to Crusty's comments. I'm happy with my '06 Uly. However, I'm looking forward to the next time the Buell demo fleet rolls through town! |

Iugradmark, Thanks. Good! I just got my '07 in April and it really is too soon to even consider parting with such a great machine. |

According to the Buell web site, the Demo fleet will be at Kegel H-D/Buell in Rockford, IL September 8 & 9. I don't know if the '08s will be in the line up. Kutter H-D/Buell in Janesville/Monroe WI usually does a fall demo as well. That's where the Uly and I first met back in '05. We're still together. That's it for the IL/WI state line area as far as I know. Check the Buell calendar of events for elsewhere. |

Ejc, nice to finally find another Bueller in the Janesville area. If you ever want to meet up for a ride, send me a PM. Later, EV |

Bertotti I love your question lol! You can't fathom anyone getting rid of a Uly for any other bike! |

Just FYI a couple of (faster?) orange '06s just showed up on ebay. One is a low miles (1150) relist with a reserve above $7600. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&item=270151830424 edit: looks like five Ulys on eBay now and all of them happen to be orange. I suppose it is just a cooincidence? (Message edited by atoms on August 11, 2007) |
