Looking through the order horizon for bikes... and there was something that was new... XB12T dont know what it is but we ordered one : D Posting as anony to save face if I get a call. But I figure it is no worse than the flash of the Buell dirt bike at the winter dealer meeting. NO details other than the designator. Discuss amongst yourselves ;)

I think it already exists. The model designation is XB12X.

Hmm, possibly new model? If it was a Uly variant, i believe it would be more likely that they would name it like the Lightnings, and call it XB12Xx or something along those lines. XB12T? T for trails only? Maybe T means tall, and it will have a 48" seat height.

Edit: $10 says that Cityxslicker is the Anony : )

I wouldnt bet that ten spot. I would loose, guess y'all know me too well. A 48" seat height. Have to sell the damn thing with a lil giant step ladder in the side case. It is not a QWERTY issue, it is a different designator... but no details. Ours will be here NOVEMBER.

a Ulysses factory equipped with a tall windshield and all the bags complete! Maybe with some fairing and a lighting front fender?

that's just my guess.

Buell HAS been known to bring out more than one new bike at a time.
Sly tricksters!!!
Then again it could just be that someone left a t off the tt and the next guy thought it was a new model and added it to the list and the next guy didn't catch it and the next guy thought that all the guys before him just couldn't be wrong...

Hallelujah! My prayers are about to be answered!
Think about it; the 1125 has the rider in a "Quiet Zone". It wouldn't be that much of a stretch to extend that same technology to an XB, possibly with lowers. Then take the seat, bags and heated grips from the Uly, and the suspension from the TT. It's not quite a "Parts Bin" special, but it wouldn't be that difficult.
There are a lot of people who didn't buy a Uly because it's too tall. And most of the people who bought Ulys are using them as Sport-Tourers. The folks at the factory aren't stupid; and they've proven that they listen to their customers. A T variant is a logical step.
Now, how in the hell am I going to come up with the money for two new bikes? (One for my wife and one for me)

Quiet Zone (tm) ?

Yeah, I got that. They are small, orange, and I stuff them in my ears.

And also, when the yabbermouth in the next cube starts blabbering, I pull them out of my 'Stich and stuff them in! One part number, many uses, truly the Buell way. Try wheeling your 146hp superbike into the office just to crawl into your "quiet zone"; people get pissed.

I don't want no stinking 146hp sport tourer. And, because I don't want one, I'm not going to let you have one either.

Unless Mr. Buell has changed his mind, I doubt VERY much you will ever see a sport tour bike from them. There was a great interview I remember reading from Eric where he was saying that while the magazines like to jabber about sport touring, the reality is that on the showroom the sales of this segment are very small. He then went on to say that based on that kind of volume just making the integrated bag system turned it into a financial loser. It was this thinking that drove them into the adventure tour market with the ULY. It is about the only segment that is growing right now.

I think the Uly is more capable off road then given credit for but the articles i read before i bought seems to put it firmly in the sport tour section, more so then the Adventure tour section. I think the 08 is moving more towards the Adventure side with the changes made though.

Hard to say...there is a lot of competition in the Sport Touring market right now with Kawasaki's GTR1400, the FJR1300 (the ST1300 and BMW K1200GT/RT). Adding a Buell design would bring a sixth model onto the market at a time that Aprilia has dropped it's Futura and Ducati is dropping it's ST series.

Still, a sport touring motorcycle based on the 1125r should be quite competitive.

There is a reason Ducati and Apriia are dropping from this market.

There is almost no market segment when it comes to sport touring.

What was was.
What will be will be.
Things change,
demographics drift and change,
markets react and change,
manufacturers predict and change,
stuff happens.
History is not necessarily a predictor of the future when it comes to products and marketing of products.
Sometimes a niche failed because the customer base wasn't there, or because a suitable product wasn't there, or both, or neither.
We'll know what happens tomorrow tomorrow.

I used to work for a cutting edge company who's philosophy was to have a product ready for a customer before the customer knew they even wanted it.
Customer: "Why doesn't someone make something."
Company: "Do you mean like this? Here you go."
Customer: "Wow, thanks."

I think we're about to the "wow, thanks" phase of Buell product offerings.

I'm not buying another ULY until it is watercooled with that 5.6 gallon frame.

Buell can easily address the want for sport touring with accessories just as BMW does with its K1200 bike. You offer heated grips and bags and there it is. May be a different seat. I honestly think that with Kawasaki coming out with its bike the market is glutted.

The real hole that the mother company has is in the dirt segment. Buell is supposedly addressing that.

I think XB platform with the lump is a keeper just as the boxer engine is a keeper for BMW. Simple ez maintenance and with the improvements very low maintenance.

The question is what do you develop around the liquid cooled engine or do you keep the line small and move everything over to the new engine???

E-glide:

Wait a minute...got it!
liquid-cooled twin, 5.8 gallon tank, and I'm saving you $3,000 dollars:

Does this get filed under "wow, thanks" ?
Yeah, didn't think so.

Jason,

haven't seen you riding around town recently. We crossed paths one time on Macland. I still had the drive out tag on my key chain. That way I can find in the house. You still in town? I read you guys were moving?

My G*D that thing is ugly. And not in a good way. I do covet the big fuel capacity though...

2. The irony of
"I'm not buying another ULY until it is watercooled with that 5.6 gallon frame."

is that of course one won't ever have to buy another Uly anyway since the air-cooled versions are close enough to perfect already.

I'm thinking that a watercooled Dual Sport will be far less popular than a watercooled Sport Tour. Though I'm not guilty of doing so, I hear that there are those who ride their Ulys offroad. : )

Mike,

Yeah, I'm leaving town, changing careers.

We need to get together for a beer, and talk badly about China.

Also, you can check out the factory bags in person, to see if they meet your needs.

my answer to hard bags on the Bueller. XB9Sx with Caribou Pelican Cases over the H&B mounting brackets. (no two up option though)
