Trying to change out the stock brake pads to the Lyndall Golds. Just want to make sure I should be loosening the top and removing the silver bolts in the picture. They are 8mm hex. If so, any ideas on how to loosen them up? They are definitely snug to say the least. Also, should the pin hanger come all the way out? It would loosen but would only go so far and not come out.

Thanks

i remember a thread on this from a while back. the best answer was from al at american sportbike. he says to remove the front wheel. this allows best access. and lets you thoroughly clean the caliper and boots. i have not had to change my pads yet, but i will definitely be using this method when i do.

Do not remove those bolts! It's not needed.
There is a plug with a slot for a flatblade screwdriver in the middle-outer edge of the caliper. Use an impact driver to loosen it and then take it out completely. then remove the allen pin that's under that plug. Take the pin all the way out. It holds the pads in and also holds a leaf-spring on top of the pads. The spring keeps the pads from ratteling.

The pads will come out without removing the caliper after removing the retaining pin.
