I was tooling around under the seat today and noticed that one of the two screws that held in the BAS mounting plate was missing and the other was loose causing it to move around. The screws heads are under the rear fender.

I guess it pays to check things when you get them back from the dealer.

I'll be checking that, since they did mine too. Maybe a little thread locker is in order.

Still haven't gotten it done on mine. I'm waiting for the noisy fan to fail first.
That way I can get 2 things done for the inconvenience of one trip to the dealer. Also, I'm not looking forward to losing the storage space under the tail section...

} I hear you. That was a really handy space that was ruined. I am going to look at options for that switch soon.

I had my BAS recall done. They tucked the kit in the empty space in front of the tail light.

I can still carry a cycle pump, tire plugger kit, XB owners manual and a roll of electric tape under the seat.

I really didn't notice any inconvenience after the recall.

Anyone have a photo of the sensor? I looked for mine, but don't know what to look for.

Andrejs,

Here's a pic. of my relocated BAS. It's tucked under the tail, to the right of the power outlet, about two inches long at most.

Forgive me if this has been answered before a million times, but is the BAS recall applicable to both the '07 and '06 models or just the '06?

Oh brother I thought, then I looked... Lo and behold! Just a couple weeks after my BAS relocate... those screws are GONE! The rear fender is loose!

Atoms,

My '07 (built 8/06) had the BAS recall.

Thanks for the photo Bien'. Is that the only spot for the BAS? I can't find mine. Where is the original spot? Aren't they supposed to do the recall if it's in the shop for service?

Thanks,
AR

AR,

If your Uly doesn't look like the photo above, they haven't done the recall. Your dealer can run the VIN and verify this. The original location for the BAS was much farther forward. I don't recall the exact location, but somewhere near the ECM IIRC.

Why does the dealer not pro-actively check for the re-call? I just made my 3rd trip in for service and they only checked the vin after I told them. I would have been pretty ticked if I was sitting on the side of the road with a dead bike due to their negligence ...

The original location for the BAS was under the ECM. The relocation is done with a wiring harness extension and mounting bracket. Call the dealer to see if they have one on hand, if not, give them the VIN and they can order it and have it for your appt. Takes less than 1 hr, but they will want the bike for about 1/2 day. Be pushy, wait on it. It seems to make them work faster. WARRANTY/RECALL
