I saw a couple of them at the factory tour....I like it. The seat is all black though, I thought it might look nice with the blue accent.

I saw a new Thrust Blue '08 hidden in the back room at Earl Small's in Atlanta while I was dropping my '06 off for service and tires.

What do you guys think of the Blue color?

I was considering the Black but now I am starting to re-think.

I may price out the blue bodywork while I have my Uly in for the 5k. I just hope that is the same Thrust blue as other XB's because I would need the XB front fender too.

I like the blue!

Quick question from somebody not so off-road savvy...
If you were to do this Pine Barrens 500... What tires would you use? They say DOT knobby tires only... would the Syncs be considered DOT knobbies?

The Syncs are DOT approved tires but they are a long way from knobbys...there are no DOT approved knobbys to fit the ULY..that I know of. You better be a VERY, strong, and in VERY good shape to ride the ULY in 500 miles of sand and tight woods...that would be some accomplishment.

Syncs are not DOT knobbies.

Examples of DOT knobbies are Dunlop 606's, Pirelli MT 21's, etc.

I don't know anything about the Pine Barrens 500 - but the Ulysses, IMHO, is not a trail bike - it is an off pavement bike for dirt roads, gravel roads and fire roads within reason. It is not for hard core Jeep (4x4) trails either.

A good rider may be able to negotiate some modest trails with Syncs, but they have their limits.

And the Uly will be hard to hoist up if it should fall.

By the way . . . I concur on the Pine Barons. New Jersey however has this cool provision that if the bike is legally registered you can operate it on any of the state forest fire trails.

New Jersey, for those of you who haven't visited, has some incredible roads.

I first set eyes on New Jersey at sunset, aboard a Buell, on July 9th, 1995.

Very cool!

Congrats Jeff! Next to Red, the Blue Uly is probably the coolest color .

I'm glad you found BadWeb, now I look forward to reading some 2008 Uly reports.

Have fun!
