Found this link on the HD forum and there is a cool 26 page pdf that details the changes for the 2008 Xb's. Pretty neat stuff. The Touring line changes at HD are interesting this year too. too.http://www.box.net/shared/jkcszyejty

Definitely worth reading..! The number of improvements (specifically to the motor) are certainly more than I'd picked up from any of the press releases I'd read. Thanks again for posting this!

wow!
More even than I thought.
I admit that I cringed a bit with the removal of the bronze bushings for the cams.
The rest is pure gravy though : )

Thanks a lot for posting that.

There was a big discussion on the cam bushing deletion on advrider; Al Lighton briefly mentioned it in a post here too (in the "News" section under a thread about the 1125R). Al didn't seem to think it was a bad thing.

That is some really cool information....Buell and HD should release that stuff on their web site as it really helps to understand the changes made. The old pictures worth a 1k words rings true. Love my '06 but now that I "see" some of the details kinda makes you want to have the latest and greatest.

I will wait one more year and see if just maybe they add ABS. Took HD forever to finally put it on the Touring bikes and it looks like they have finally got the brakes right on the big 800# rigs. I had a Street Glide for a bit and one of the reasons I sold it was the brakes were absolute crap...especially on a bike that heavy.

What do you guys think about the "drive by wire" throttle arrangement on the Touring line? Think it would be a good item for the Uly and provide more dependable component vs the typical throttle cable set up?

One the Buell news site http://www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/newsdetail. asp?news_id=1236 is even more info about the mill. They raised the redline to 7100 rpm from 6800 rpm and I read somewhere else (can't find it now) that the new ECM also reduced vibration at idle.

So who's lining up for a new Uly?

So who's lining up for a new Uly?

I want one. The only thing holding me back is the mods I have made to my 06. I have added lights, coated the muffler, gotten it signed by Erik, and added a red airbox. So now I'm rather attached to it.

But I like the engine changes to the 08 models. I've never been convinced the TPS on my bike has been set as well as it should be. I think it should be smoother at low speeds than it is. The same with the timing. It pings when it's hot. I know some people have had pinging problems due to their timing being wrong. I've asked the dealer and they say my timing is fine. Still it would be nice to know that there was no way it could be wrong.

I really admire the changes, especially since they reduce maintenance, and I wouldn't mind the extra steering lock. The only downside is the reduced alternator output (30Amp per website/32 per spec sheet vs 38 on 06/07 Uly's), although if the new oil pump/cooler makes the fan run less you should be ok with less AMPs.

I was considering upgrading if the new bike had a greater fuel capacity, and/or a sixth gear, so I'm going to be sticking with my 06 until then.

Besides, I've already learned how to reset the TPS, and Timing on my Uly, so why let that knowledge go to waste?

Why wait? At least a couple of BadWebbers (one in FL and one in VA) have seen 08 Buell's in the dealerships already.

Most welcome Blake! Wonder why Buell dosen't openly produce/provide this type of info to the consumer instead of just producing it for training purposes to their employees?? In this day and time seems most consumers want as much quality info as you can get on a topic.

Some dealers aren't made aware of the info. I had to go find it on ADVrider a week or so ago.
Big thanks to Firstbatch, too!
