I believe that the 1125R belt idler is actually a spring or torsion spring device. Why they haven't done this for the 2008 ULY is a good question. I like that European aftermarket ULY belt tensioner except for it's very high price.

Or how 'bout the 2008 XB9SX primary gearing of 1.500, same as the Uly. Hope the 2007 primary gears are still available.

IIRC, from the beginning Buell engineers have said that spring loading that pulley goes against the whole premise of the thing.

Actually with the solid mounted tensioner you may have some warning of impending belt failure. There was a thread on Advrider where a guy had slop in his belt. He took the belt off and found it was tearing on the inside and ready to break.
If you had a self adjusting tensioner you would have no warning.
